I had a scammer that tried to trick me into using Paypal Friends and Family- obvious red flag there. I left my first negative feedback and- wouldn't you know it- they then leave a revenge negative, attempting to pressure me into removing the negative I left with said false feedback.

You can't. That site is abandoned, there is no mod, it's running by vote on review system.

But how do I request that the feedback be added to the review system?

No one but scammers asks strangers to use Friends and Family; it's a very common method of doing things as there's no buyer protection. It also is cheating the system as it means the seller avoids the fees that they owe Paypal for using their service for a transaction. So it's not only scamming the user, it's scamming Paypal too.

Only use it if it's with someone that you'd literally trust to borrow money from you, and never for transactions between a buyer and seller. They're both setting you up to be scammed AND putting your account at risk by asking you to cheat the system for them.

People use F&F for private sales all the time because no one wants someone to have to pay fees. They're not scamming you or scamming Paypal.

They have 260 positive feedback and no negative feedback. They weren't trying to scam you. Just delete your negative feedback and they'll delete the negative feedback that you gave them.

Firstly: Why would I trust what they said after they already tried to scam me? Secondly, extortionary "revenge feedback" like that is clearly against Steam Trade's rules.

Dude, how many hints do you need that you are wrong? I've never ever seen a game trade using PayPal that didn't rely on F&F.

The "investigation" you are hoping for would lead to the same result:
You are wrong.
Your expectations are unrealistic.
Your usage of the feedback system is wrong too.
And your attitude is pretty entitled and generally questionable.

The whole Group Buys group operates with PP friends and family mode to keep costs down, after dozens if not a hundred+ transactions with no problems I think I can count on one hand how many trades happened outside of the F&F system.

You should not use F&F at a more expensive item (I have no idea how and what your trade was), but for a sub-5$ deal it's ridiculous to pay 1-3$ fees. With my usual bundle split I'd often pay about the same in fees as for the games (0.5-2$)

You forgot to explain what happened in the trade. The other person has a 260/1 feedback (the 1 being you) and says you abandoned the trade and left bad feeback on the sheer suspicion of a scam, because of the Friends & Family thing. Is that so?

And by the way, F&F is standard, but you always have the option of not trading or not using F&F and paying the fees.

That's not how Paypal works. Firstly, Friends and Family is not used for buyer/seller transactions. Secondly, buyer pays conversion fees (which I would have in this case since they're using a different currency from me), seller pays transaction fees. This is how Paypal works; if they're hiding the fees and not telling users the actual price they're asking, that's bait and switch, which in some places is even illegal.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

The price they're listing is the amount they want to receive. If you don't want to use F&F then you'd have to pay extra to cover the fees. There's nothing illegal about that. Are you expecting them to take a lose on a transaction because you're greedy?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

No, I'm expecting them to follow the same rules that everyone else does when selling with Paypal. I cover the fees when I'm seller because that's how Paypal works. I've been using it for years to sell things through eBay, Facebook, and a few times even on here- I have NEVER tried to trick someone into using Friends and Family for a buyer/seller transaction.

You know who I use Friends and Family for? My friends and my family.

Also not true.
You went on their trades post, where it clearly says:

  • EU Paypal
  • friends and family

It's obvious (just like that your hamster shouldn't go into the microwave) that if you want to use a different payment method or you have a non-Euro Paypal account, the resulting fees are your problem, not the seller's.

You gave someone a malicious -rep for no reason and now complain here that you're the victim. As you've been told several times, F&F is the normal standard for these kinda trades. Of course if you're talking about $50 or even $500, you should be sure that the other party is a trustworthy decent human being.

Paypal 'without cheating the system' (lol) has its own lot of pitfalls, issues, and most importantly common scams. Though I suppose the vast majority of those scams are done by the buyer, since the buyer has all sorts of buyer protection on their side.

Just read everyone messages... as said F&F is the standard there, u still salty for no reason.
Also in the thread is already stated the payment options available... so why u added me to trade if you were not willing to pay that way?!

  • revenge feedback which is CLEARLY against the rules of feedback.
  • -rep without trading is as well so why u left -rep in 1st place? XD

I might have bought it if you had apologized and told me you didn't understand how Paypal worked and didn't have the intent of scamming, and that you would cease using Friends and Family for transactions in the future; instead you left revenge feedback (clearly against the rules) and want me to break the rules for some made up rules you never even linked me to in the first place.

Everyone makes mistakes in life. How you respond to those mistakes is important and shows your character. It isn't too late to delete the feedback you left and send them a message that says that you made a mistake and that you are sorry. It would reflect far better on you than continuing to double down on the scam accusations.

👆🏼 => Extortion.

I'll steal your car and kidnap your sibling. This is okay because you sinned. I saw it clearly. It must be true.
If you repent, found a Church Of Buddha's Glory in your city, and sacrifice three sheep to Satan every day for 4 days in a row, I'll return them unharmed. Oh, and you have to sign a contract that you will never drink cola again in your life, and your sibling and their future children also may never do so. Doing so is wrong, after all. Everybody knows it.
And don't complain about this, it'd be revenge feedback. You're wrong, after all. Sinner.

While he had 260/0.before you put negative feedback on him ,the chance that he would scam you were probably like 5%?

I have made hundreds of PayPal trades, all with friends and family option where possible. None were scams. (F&F is not allowed for many International transfers)

SteamTrades operates on the reputation system. If someone has at least several positive reviews from users who aren’t also new, that’s usually good enough to consider them trustworthy. If trust is in question, user with less feedback should go first. Terms should be agreed upon before either party sends anything.
