So I was thinking of watching new drama - Blacklist.
Question is it worth the time and the ratings are accurate? ^_-

I did not like that series at all... there's 1-2 interesting characters and 90% of the cast can't act at all, they're like stick figures.

I really liked Blacklist at first, it was pretty fun for the first season. I dropped out after the second season because it just seemed like they were dragging out the story. I'm tempted to try to catch up on it sometimes but I never do.

I've watched the first two seasons and only a few episodes from the third and I can say it's really good. Sometimes, the script may be too much, but James Spader's acting is fantastic.

I liked the first 2 seasons. Haven't started on the 3rd yet.
I do hope they wrap up the series before the overall main plot gets stretched too thin though. I know a 4th is coming up, but I don't think it has much more pull than that.

I was drawn to the show because of James Spader, and he does not disappoint in his performances. However, having watched 17 episodes I kind of lost interest as I found much of the writing and plots to be kind of cliche, formulaic and boring. I think part of it is that it is written as an episodic/procedural show instead of a serial one, and I find that the episodic nature kind of forces things to be tied up in each episode too neat and tidy without a lot of chance to explore deeper character development in the villains that make up The Blacklist. There have been a few great episodes and shining moments, but I've found it to be pretty uneven and found it a bit laborious to get through the fluff to find the rare nuggets of gold. I probably would have liked the show a lot more 20 years ago, but have been a bit spoiled by such amazing writing in recent shows.

I dunno, I think you should actually watch a few episodes and decide for yourself but go in with low expectations. It's not the kind of show that I think compels one to binge watch a whole season in one go, but if you just want something kinda entertaining that can be on in the background without giving it too much thought and casually enjoy from time to time it may be worth checking out.
