I had the idea of painting the numbers to get a direct drawing of the letters instead. Didn't work, of course XD. Nice puzzle btw.

oh ^%^%^&#%$@!!!! I actually thought about QR code when I saw chris's pic, it seriously looks like them, but I have no idea you could split QR into such so I put it out of mind. darn. Maybe if I didn't have to go to bed, I would have try it...or not.

So close yet so far! QR code crossed my mind, but I thought there'd need to be more squares filled in for that. Should have just tried it.
