I don't like adding people on steam, nor do I like using e-mails. I don't like a crowded steam friends list. People, whether I know them or not, change their steam name often, and it's hard to keep track sometimes. It makes sense where a website that's heavily involved in trading as well as giving away games directly to other people would have a way within the website to communicate to that person.

Would you support a system to PM (message) a user through steamgifts.com?

I (almost) never change my name on Steam ... and even if I do I usually keep "Mush" and "Clone" in the name.

I'd rather say "No". It seems convenitent, but then I think about all these nice people - moderators and top contributors, which would be just spammed by tons of messages from people with problems/questions/begging for games... I don't think they deserve it.

I would say yes but with the ability to turn on the feature or off. Therefore people who didn't want it wouldn't get spammed, those who did want it could enjoy it. People on someones blacklist should not be able to PM them either.

it was suggested over and over in the past and the answer was always no.

Beggars, Phishing links, refferal links, mass advertisement spam, support getting tons of PMs "when will you resolve my ticket" and so on and on - atm at least you're able to just ignore the invitation on steam, on SG you would just get spammed and spammed. And inb4 "well, report and suspend spammers" - one good free weekend = spamming bot can get hundreds of SG accounts, you ban one he will jump to another.

A PM function for to tell a person you won a GA from would be nice. With the steam key function now, I feel like a whore when i can't say thx without adding ppl to steam(and im a steam recluse).

Isn't limited to 1000 users? You would reach that limit in a month.

yah..we should get some feature after some time( when we start to get near limit of 1000 people problem ) that automatically removes the acoounts from lists when they are permanently banned from SG

Where's the point of adding a condition, let's just make it automatic.
Let's let a time to attempt to justify. Let's say after ¿1 month? of an account being perma-banned it should be removed from all blacklists, to accommodate space for more.

[...] nor do I like using e-mails.

Why don't you like using e-mails? In today's world? Everyone is using them, it is easy, it is clean, you have everything saved on a safer server than the Steamgifts, I can't really come with a reason why would they be bad...

People, whether I know them or not, change their steam name often, and it's hard to keep track sometimes.

You know that Steam added a future especially for these friends? You can tag a friend with your own name that is easier for you.

it would be nice to have a pom system, but it should be pretty robust with options like filters and an on/off switch. else it will be a mess and you will get spammed.

This.
I like the idea, but only if a user can turn it off completely and there is an "ignore" feature seperate from blacklists.

Yes, please, PM. Even Twitch showed us that a simple, half-broken system is a considerably better than not being able to send PMs.
