9 more years and i can get civilization 7 anthology ! Sorry the joke is too tempting !
Didn't manage to get hooked on this one, but it's still a good game and it's an awesome deal for sure for the patient gamers thanks !

civ 3 is still the best civ
and the only one where you can fight dinosaurs

I mean the original. I briefly tried the Civ 4 mod back when it was new, but went back to the original very quickly. Doesn't mean I thought it was bad, I just was so used to the old version that I wanted to keep playing it and didn't feel the need for an improved/updated version.

Two days ago I managed to beat CIVIII and I enjoyed it a lot. In fact I want to play one turn more. Just one more... :D
I don't know if start now CIV IV or V. Tried them some years ago but didn't hook as much.
I have CIV VI (only base game + 2 civilizations DLC) but will wait for a better offer on steam.

That's the idea ! :p Civ3 is incredibly addictive, i had a laptop at that time with just this game installed.
Contrary to civ 4, in civ5 you move on hexagons and units are not stackable. Some like it some don't. But it was a huge (and maybe only) critic against 4 : the endless stacks of units. There has been huge praise for Civ4 AI.
I almost didn't play 5 and 6, played 3 and 4 for hundred of hours but not on Steam. But 5 is considered now the most achieved.
Leaders in 6 are more secondary characters, with a less realistic design. Many players didn't manage to adapt to 6 and gave up, some returned to 5.
Civ4 AI coder made 2 great games since, both praised for their AI : Offworld trading company and Old world
If you liked Civilization, you would like Old world, it's Civilization but just in an extensive ancient times.

I know something about Old World, eventually I'll try it (in another life?)
You know better than me what disturbed me on CIV V :D
The best of all is that you don't need to play the newest version, you can continue perfectly well with CIV 3 or 4.
I'm old to know (now) that newer doesn't mean better!

extended for another 8 days, tempting, but I still haven't finished Civ5 yet, so I guess I'll hold on till I'll do that...
On what others said-well I liked civ1 and civ2 (to bad they are not available for purchase on Steam) as both gave the ability to conquer the world on any map with even max number of players, I really miss that on later releases, civ 3 was a let down for me due mostly above but I liked civ IV mostly due colonization, new frontiers and barbarians campaign. The culture conquest and corporations are great. I'm not very fond of Civ 5, but with add-ons it seems as an OK game, but it doesn't beat IV IMHO.
