Original sushi is hard to be damaged by using "rice vinegar". (Not likely to cause food poisoning)
However, there are even sushi from overseas that aren't used only by name.🍣
Durian sushi
Chinese sausage sushi
If it's a common dish made in Japan!
If there is a restaurant that insists that way, you should be taken to “Japanese secret weapons”.

In case you ever wonder what sushi is like in China, Guangxi Region:
Durian sushi - seriously!? only in China I guess... PS: it was nasty
Salmon cheek
Chinese sausage sushi
I wouldn't recommend eating sushi in Nanning, especially with raw fish. I got horrible food poisoning the night I ate this. Well, I guess it could also technically be the night market food I got that day, which I'll show in a couple of days.
