+1 Definitely a solid contender for a GOTY if there's an indie game edition :)

P/S: Noita is also a pretty amazing roguelite/like too

I guess we can't vote on RDR2 then? (will be released on Steam in December)

nope, but Jedi Fallen Order would be okay

Well, the rules don't say it has to be playable before the end of November so technically it could be included?

Edit:

  • Game must be released on Steam

Yeah, this could go two ways. lol

the problem is, that there is no storepage and I could not create a GA for the game nor could I give it away ;)

Ah, those are very valid reasons.

(I must say that I am super excited for the game and I bought it on the Rockstar Launcher as soon as it was available. I hope it lives up to my expectations.)

I think I might just add my vote to Slay the Spire; it's been so excellent.

It's actually releasing on steam? Suddenly i'm interested. Might cancel my 2077 pre-order and buy it with that.

I think such games are good, but not enough to be goty.
Gameplay and visuals may differs, but they all have same essence. And after a couple hours of playing it turns to be dummy (hollow/empty/pointless)

Indivisible is awesome! Definitely +1 from me. But I don't think it generated as much play rate, I suppose it's the price...

Yes, this means you can close the thread now, you won't find a better game in existence, ever.
Also, shame on everyone for not starting with this.

There were tons of phenomenal releases this year, so while I've picked the one I'm most excited to try, I'd also like to submit for everyone else's consideration:

After checking what I played this year I realised I've only played one game from 2019, the rest all seem to be from previous years. I guess that is a disadvantage of always waiting for the prices to drop before buying, you're always behind the currently relevant stuff.
So by default the winner is:

Missed Messages. It actually is a really nice short visual (?) novel however.

People see the first comment, they have an arousal from the recognition reaction, and they vote - for the first thing they see. Then they scroll further, but some of them not, and probably some of them see other options, but not all of them will change the vote, because it requires deleting the comment and writing the another. That's how lists and scrolling in the Internet works.

Verbose explaining of concise phrases is worse than, I don't know, worse than something uncool.

But it is... that's how I played it :P
Just because you can't buy it on Steam anymore doesn't mean it doesn't qualify for GOTY on Steam :P
PS it is going to come back again, at some point ... hmmmm

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

It means exactly that.
It will qualify next year, not this year. But it wont since its a 19 game.

Eh, I played it on Steam and for me its the GOTY on Steam this year :P

Wrong, its the GOTY on Epic games store, youre not supposed to have it on steam yet, you just got lucky and rewarded shitty publishers.

Permalink

I disagree, it was first available for purchase this year on Steam, so they're allowed to vote for it.

Emphasis on WAS, not IS, thus nullfying that option, youre not allowed to vote for it, but hey, theres always DLC to vote for.

Exodus is the only game i played released in 2019 (after I had to buy new gfx card when old one broke, next month after buying nvidia released upgraded cards for better price :] ) for me it was good but not great, mainly because of lack of rpg elements and encounters in all missions ended always in fight, sometimes some stealth (which gives better "more good" story outcome) but not possible to finish with only stealth anyway. But story had some memorable moments and climat. I never played earlier Metro games btw. ps - even after i bought a brand new video card rtx2060 i couldn't play with all details (slow downs when fighting) and as I'm having win7 not all graphic options where possible.

The Metro games were never RPG games so yeah shouldn't have been expecting any RPG elements, its more a very immersive story driven post apacolyptic game, generally a little horor focused but Exodus didn't have much of that going on, from what I believe they still followed the book quite a bit, apart from the ending.

PS get windows 10 on OpiumPulses, I've bought quite a few copies over the years, never had any problems with them. (I bought multiple copies as it was for friends and when I got completely a different rig)

Most of the people not going to recheck topic or read later comments so this will have only any sense if the top 10 with most +1 get to a new poll sometime later.

I personally bought only one game this year for a full price, and that was Imperator Rome, which wasn't liked by the masses, I enjoyed my time with it.

The 2nd what I planning to buy this year on release for the full price will be definitely the GOTY of 2019 to me:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1106530/GemCraft__Frostborn_Wrath/

And this is probably the most wanted game to me, hopefully, it will be released in 2019 because I don't want to wait more:-)

i already +1'd the re2 remake but i just had to nominate blasphemous. it's indie, and half the price, so you aren't gonna get as many hours from it, but goddamn everything about it just oozes greatness.
