Did you watch "Allo allo"?
Sad news :( Watched the series on youtube at first, but then got the DVD box to watch it again and again in good quality.... But I'm glad he had a second chance at life after that car accident :)
Guess it is time to visit that little cafe again.

Haven't heard of the series, but I might look it up on youtube. Sad news nevertheless..

Watched it as a kid, really liked it. Herflik and Fonsmorhauzen, the effeminate occupying officer and his small tank, the contrast between him and his rough buddy, Rene's ever more ridiculous excuses when his wife catches him with one of the waitresses/mistresses, lifting the mother-in-law's bed to use the radio, the undercover policeman's attempts at communication, the resistance leader's signature line, the captured pilots and the various crazy schemes to evacuate them, the epic adventure of the painting, all great stuff.

It is hard to get good British comedy TV here in the 'States. Knowing that he passed makes me wish that I had seen the show.

If I had heard the name, I wouldn't have known who he was. But if I see the photo from the show, I remember parts of it from my childhood too! I think a lot of the humour was probably lost on me at a young age, but I just remember watching it with family and it was always pretty funny. I'll have to track down a few episodes to remind myself better. Cheers!

Just read that Gorden Kaye has died age 75. For those who don't know who he was, he was famous as Rene Artois the owner of a bar during WW2 in the British tv-show "Allo allo".
I loved this show as a kid and it's pure nostalgia, it reminds me of cosy tv-nights with my parents. Over the years I rewatched the show many times and it's still very entertaining.
Did you watch the show and did you like it?
RIP Gorden Kaye
