So I have been using an official XBone gamepad on my pc for the past almost 2 years. So I was just playing a game, I use it wired since for some reason the bluetooth never wants to work, and dropped it from about 2 feet. First time I dropped it too. And now it won't turn on anymore. Batteries, the light flashes and turns off. Been trying to resynch it to my pc with no luck. Even tried rebooting my pc.

Anyone have any suggestions other than buying a new one? I researched and could not find anything useful to my issue.

Thanks.

No idea how to take that apart. Used to be able to take apart my old Logitech F310 no problem.

There's quite some videos about it. It doesn't look complicated.
After two years, you shouldn't even neet to worry about voiding your warranty. Better give it a try before dumping it for a new one :)

Have you tried taking the batteries out and putting them back in? Maybe the hit did make them move slightly but enough for them not providing the required voltage.
Other than that, looking on video teardowns, you'll only need a Torx 8 to open it and check if anything got loose.
Sorry, I don't own one and can't help you any further :/

Been using it with a micro usb cable as Bluetooth never wanted to work with my games no matter what. Now, I unpaired the gamepad and it won't pair again. Won't even recognize the pad as being there.

And the micro usb cable won't even power it on anymore either. And that's with a new cable.

Win 10 or Win 7? I know XBones are a PITA to work reliably on bluetooth in Win7, so troubleshooting on BT is probably out of the question.
So if it's not working now when wired, that indicates you may have damaged the internal plug connection on the mainboard inside the controller?

Or, based on the above comment you made, it could be more serious than just that.

Win 10. And I was thinking the pins might be damaged.

Crap. Now I get to spend more money I don't have. :(

I would check the pins, but also the internal connection. It's worth looking at, cos it still could be a simple fix.

Have a different cable to try?

Did you try to re-seat the batteries? It could be as simple as the batteries got knocked loose. If that doesn't solve it, have you tried the Xbox Accessories app from the Windows Store? That might be able to help troubleshoot it.

Also, I use mine with the Xbox One Wireless Adapter for Windows - it works perfectly for wireless operation.

Hey sorry but just read your post and have the same wireless adapter. Does our adapter work for wireless 360 controllers as well or only the xbone?

Sorry BHTrellis not trying to hijack

It does not, you'd need this one though I can't speak on its quality or how well it would work with modern technology. There's also lots of bootleg ones coming from China and I can't guarantee anything like that on Newegg is legit either, personally I'd stick with a long cable ¯\(ツ)

There are two different wireless adapters, one for Xbox 360 controllers and one for Xbox One controllers.

Each adapter only works with the respective controllers, but you can have both connected at the same time, and have at least 4 controllers connected via one adapter.

Update- Ok, pad doesn't work with usb anymore. Tried multiple ports and cables ( I have 3).
I unpaired the pad to see if re-pairing will fix it and it won't recognize the pad VIA bluetooth on a WIN 10 with ALL the latest creators updates.

Looks like I'm going to have to find a way to get the money for a new one. :(

Edit: Just saw that you checked the usb cable.

If those don't work, you're going to have to do open controller surgery or get it repaired somewhere. If the controller never worked via bluetooth, you could try and submit a support ticket to microsoft. Worst that happens is your out a bit of time, but I've totally seen out of warranty replacements happen enough times that I recommend asking (still a long shot, make sure to say a friend told you to submit a ticket cause you thought it had to be wired all the time, and don't mention anything about it not currently working when wired).

You'll need a soldering iron and a multimeter to repair the controller yourself. Even if you don't, if it's broken you could take it apart to see if there's obvious damage like a wire hanging loose. They have a lot of small parts so make sure you are working on a clean surface and have a tray or other place to put all the parts into. If you don't have the multimeter or soldering iron, then it's likely better to just buy a replacement controller. You could always try ebay/craigslist/facebook for used ones.

Best of luck

Tried taking it apart. Got the grips off and saw that I don't have the right screwdriver to open it. Nor do I have, or have ever used, a soldering iron.
