GOG is running their weekend promo on a large portion of the Interplay catalog.

These games are offered with a 60% discount rather than their typical 50%. I'm so torn between making purchases at this time. Steam and GOG will each have Summer Sales right around the corner. But these titles haven't had a bigger discount than this for over 2 years now. So... buy now or chance it for the Summer Sales?

Why do you do this to me, GOG...

Buy, Wait, or Pass?

Buy them all!
Buy a few if you really want them
Better to wait for the Summer Sales
GOG? No Steam key = no sale

Depends on how many of them you really want to play soon... Too bad they don't provide localized versions, I'd instabuy Messiah.

+1 for Messiah. But I don't know if it would have aged poorly :/
(I already have MDK 2 on CD)

Also depends on how low GOG has had them and how bad you want them on GOG

I would if you can get the on GOG no DRM,no steam needed to install.I know i will be buying more stuff on GOG as Steam is becoming such a pain with all the silly new rules like trade ban if you some how get a trade that involved a fraud regardless if you knew or not.

You can be cheap and also wait for summer sale like a lot do,but you never know for sure what the price will be and how low,as i waited for Winter sale for some games and they ended up being less discounted then other sites fall sales.

Plus GOG does not charge to access part of the community and did i mention it is DRM.

If you think the game is worth the price, buy it.
If you think the game is not worth the price, wait.

These are older games, so there's no real point in getting them on Steam over GOG, unless you're a hardcore hoarder who cares only about the game count in your profile.

If these games have this 60% now I don't think they will be lower on the Summer sale.

This is my worry. I've been skipping every Interplay sale for almost 3 years now because they've been 50% discount at best. But now they do this and if I buy them I probably shouldn't get anything during the Summer Sales...

Please don't hate me for this picture. I just know my "worry" is so trivial. :)

Also, if it doesn't run properly, at GOG, you can get your money back (first 30 days only...). Just a consideration...

I must admit I hardly know any of these games. Can't really give you advice here, only if you say you have watched these and they have never been lower in 3 years they probably won't be in the future. Buy a few if you really want them.

If you voted GOG? No Steam key = no sale

Do me a favor. Stop being closed minded and turning down a good deal simply because valve won't own your game. I don't understand you people. You'd think owning the games you buy would be a pro, especially if the sale was better.

I love good sales. 32 people do not apparently.

Or maybe those 32 people have money in their Steam wallet and would much rather use that to get games instead of buying them from another site?

Except the vote isn't for that. The vote states the fact that it is not a steam key means you won't buy; which is very straightforward. Not the fact that you have money in one specific limited place for whatever reason, meaning you will not buy.

What you are saying comes down to not owning your money, but instead having already given your money to valve. What the vote is saying is not wanting anything but a steam key.

Yeah, you're right. :o/ Personally, the reason why I don't buy from GOG is that I tend to forget about games if they don't appear in my Steam library. (lame, I know) I have downloaded some free games but as I've said, I keep forgetting I have them on my hard drive. Despite that, I might get Police Quest Collection at some point. It's not on Steam and I'd love to play Police Quest again. ^^

What if GOG won't even sell the same games like Hatred, as Steam does?

Why would that have anything to do with refusing to buy a GoG game on sale?

Anyone who's interested in Earthworm Jim 1 + 2 should check the trade forum before making a purchase. It was part of a Groupees bundle not so long ago so surely some people still have it for trade.

Hey, it's your money - can't really say what will make you happy. BUT I do know that unless I plan to play something right away, I just wait. **cough, cough, unless it's bundled - yeah, my bundle addiction is pretty advanced :-p

I'm really interested in MDK and MDK2 (i only pplayed MDK 2 on dreamcast, you can imagine the controls...), but i think i'll wait for summer sale, I have 40 euro on steam wallet and with all exams that i have to do in these months i'll probably need the money to eat out.

Permalink

Ah yes, the Dreamcast. I still have mine. <3 I never played MDK 2 on it, though. In fact, I've never played MDK 1 or 2. My brother had MDK for PC when it came out but I don't believe I ever played it.

Good luck with all of your exams. :)
