What do you think?
Did PewDiePie save gaming by introducing it to 12 year old fangirls, or ruin gaming by introducing it to 12 year old fangirls?

I love how I know absolutely nothing of what you are talking about.
+1 to your +1
+1 to your +1 of his +1
Don't know who he is.
how did you know that this person is a male? hmmm??
The Internet. The place where men are men, women are men and little girls are FBI agents.
Read this thread. Everyone is using "he".
Because PewDiePie is very clearly a male? It doesn't take a genius to figure it out, despite the unfortunate voice transplant he had with a fifteen year old girl.
At least I'm not the only one.
+1 and I will raise you one by adding that this topic is a non-issue.
pewdiepie is the shit "bro fist"
Is there a comma in there or do you really mean a shit covered bro fist? When I think of pewdiepie and bro fist I think of shit.
I've never seen any of his videos, nor do I even want to.
Oh, thanks you. I was sure I missed something important, but now I know I'm not the only one who never heard of whatever that is OP is talking about.
He isn't important enough to have affected gaming as a whole, you give him too much credit. As for my opinion, he has ruined some of wider society's perception of gaming, because of his ridiculous popularity on Youtube.
I'm ok with him and his stuff generally, I just don't think he is the best ambassador we could have. It's not the right image.
I swear people look at Youtubers as celebrities. They're just some random people who happen to entertain a couple of people. If PewDiePie impacts your gaming choices I feel sorry for you.
"Entertain a couple (according to youtube wiki, 9 million subscribers) of people" - isn't that what celebrities do?
World can't live without knowing how Kar-something will call her baby and AFAIK only thing she done is being popular for being popular...
And having an ass the size of the Rock of Gibraltar.
+. Besides, I think none of the Youtube channels affect gaming much. People can think and choose games they like by themselves.
Oh, I dunno... I think a few people (such as Adam Sessler, John Bain, Matt Barton, and Joe Vargas) have had an impact on gaming. Perhaps not a big impact, but an impact nonetheless.
+1 i havent really seen anything from the person they refer to in the op nor a few you list but Joe Vargas (anger y joe show) is very entertaining not just his personality but the passion he has for the gaming communities.
If you haven't heard of Adam Sessler (AKA "that X-play guy") John Bain (AKA "TotalBiscuit"), and Matt Barton (host of "Matt Chat"), you might want to check them out.
who? I prefer playing games myself instead of watching some reatards doing it whilst talking sit^^
I mean, I like watching e.g. Birgirpall or Dendi, but I don't think it affects the games I am playing, it's rather that I watch them BECAUSE I play the games I chose (BF3 and DOTA in this case).
How does he impact gaming in any way?
It could, imagine COD, but in pink, Justin Bieber and sparky vampire.
I agree, what he does doesn't affect gaming in ANY WAY.
Came here to say this... He started off as a simple let's player (I used to watch him back when he had 10k - 15k subs, honestly he was much more interesting back then.) He did not aim to change gaming nor has he done it, he's simply a dude who records himself play games.
I agree, I hate seeing girls " OH, SLENDER IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO COOOLL BROFISTT NAYHEY <3"
He's done nothing for gaming. Not saved it, not ruined it. I honestly admire how he will try to play some relatively obscure games, so I guess he lets those games be known to a lot of people who weren't aware of them before.
He rose the LP industry, much more people started doing it. (I think)
He wasn't the cause of the rise of the LP community, but a product of it
Then what was the cause? In every industry the success of someone will bring more people into that industry.
I don't know what the cause was as I don't have any statistics. Maybe MineCraft, since it's one of the best selling PC games of all time, and all of the "marketing" was people spreading the words to eachother. Then, as some people began uploading MineCraft it brought more people to YouTube. But then again, most people (the ones that I know about at least) started with CoD, so that must have been a pretty big factor too
Maybe he wasn't the sole factor of the rise, but he was a big benefactor, the more the person is successful the more people it would bring, it was like that from the beginning of civilization.
(Hope I didn't fuck it up)
I don't know how big a factor he is, and I don't have a good enough education to come with a qualified explanation for these diagrams. But whatever he brought to the YouTube scene, it's not something I like.
Wait, I didn't mean how many people were interested inb it, I meant with pewdiepie more people started to try to enter the industry, an increase in LPs.
This is just going to turn into a discussion about how you interpret the fact that YouTube LP's has become huge. Can we at least agree on that LP's are becoming huge?
Well, I don't care about LPs, never watched a single one of them. My only point was that a success of someone in an industry always driven other people to join the same industry as well, and PDP is one of the most successful of the LPs (Actually he is the only one I heard of which points ts his successes), that's all.
"(Actually he is the only one I heard of which points ts his successes)"
That's an obvious fallacy.
So wait, you want to tell me he isn't successful?
... He was by far not the first let's play maker out there, nor was he at the forefront of the surge of let's play video makers. There were lots before that.
I didn't say that he was a first, or the funding father of LP, I just said that he is successful, and like any success of someone in an industry it drives more people to join that industry.
So, does that show that he had no impact on let's play, since they started to rise 2 years before he appeared and there wasn't any sudden rise of them along his appearance and quick way to the top?
I didn't mean rise in audience, but rise in how many people do/try LPing.
UK you disappoint me :( I thought we knew better.
I know this is old, but I wanna correct you. You must be new to the LP community.
If anyone, ANYONE could be accounted for as to assisting the rise of LPs, it would be ProtonJohn, NintendoCapriSun, and Chuggaaconroy. These guys were around when it began, and helped it to be what it is today. As stated before, PewdiePie is a RESULT, not a factor
"You must be new to the LP community." I'm not new because I'm not even in it.
Again, I haven't said that he was the initial start of all of it, I said he contributed a great deal to the rise of number of people doing LP. Or you gonna deny the fact that success of someone gives more promise in the industry for other people who are interested? Or you gonna say he is just like any other LPr and isn't one of the most successful?
A person's success in an industry was always a drive for other people to enter that industry.
As a person who grew up listening to what is now known as "vynal's," that anagram has an entirely different meaning to me. Once upon a time, an "LP" was a long-playing record (as opposed to a "45").
He seems to have nothing to do with pie. :/
He's not worth talking about. Let's talk about Jesus.
Jesus understands violence, and because of that violent video games should be taxed
what does my gardener have anything to do with gameing
Why u think that the "12 year old fangirls" didn't known gaming? Im watching his videos when im totally bored and there are few funny ones. For me thats not imortant if they know or not, gaming.
Going to school should be your next achievement in life.
and yours would be daycare...
applies cold water to burned area
Already worked there, how did you know? :O
+1, Pewdie shouldn't be hated. Only the people who think they can do the same as pewdie.
am i the only one who never saw one vid of this guy?
I saw 10 seconds.
Same. And those 10 seconds were enough to see I would find him annoying.
Yeah, I don't understand why everybody keeps talking about him. We'd better ignore him.
Yeah I haven't seen a single vid of the guy either. I'm guessing I shouldn't?
Hear of him, never saw anything by him and frankly couldn't care less.
I haven't either
I, too, have thus far managed to avoid his videos.
I did find "Toby Sucks at Gaming" Zcq5n somewhat entertaining, though....
I never saw anything of that guy and im proud of it. If i want to check out a game, i just read some reviews or simply buy it and try it out myself to get an opinion.
Never got the point of watching lets plays...
He is giving indie games a shitload of publicity, and i'm happy about that. other than that, he is simply an entertainer, small minds hate and worship him but that has no effect on your precious "gaming" really.
I don't know if he impacted anything at all, I just know he's painfully unfunny.

Like my ex
This made me lol. :)
sounds familiar xD
Ahhh this gif is so hilarious
Can we stop talking about him? Maybe if we stop talking about him he'll stop screaming like an idiot and making "jokes" that I'm sure are "funny" and we'll be free of him.
There's still gonna be people talking about him.
I don't like his videos but I don't hate him. Many people are entertained when they look his gaming videos and that's the point. I'm happy that he helps people to discover some games. Gaming isn't an underground activity that should never be mainstream. It's an art and everyone should know it and enjoy it.
The only thing I can't deal with is how some of his "bros" are acting on youtube. I want to beat the shit out of them.
Probably the best comment I've ever read about PDP!
+1 to this
But any fanbase in internet is annoying by default if large enough.
Sad but true D:
Yup pewdie is okay but the fucking bros likes to run around other gaming channels and broadcasting about how theyre copying pewdie
He's not even a gamer, he's more like a screamer. :D
When I think about the gaming industry something very serious and engaging comes to mind. But he takes everything as a joke, where as sometimes is not even funny and he over reacts stuff a lot which is annoying. Kids usually watch his stuff and gives a bad example on how a game should be played. If I want to watch a clown I go to a circus and it's more fun.
GG pew you just f***** the next generation of kids
I think clowns are terrifying. Pewdiepie is just terrifyingly unfunny.
The guy's merely an entertainer, he does nothing for the videogame medium. People find him funny or not (I'm in the "not" part, but that's okay -don't like, don't watch). His games are all the same to be honest, typical low-quality horror genre (Slender-like games have to be produced in a assembly-line manufactory, my God there are thousand of them), though he widened his catalog I believe, starting with To the Moon and other stuff. But that doesn't make him important for gaming in any way, in my opinion.
I'm not not sure what this is about, care to elaborate? or post a link?
A guy on YouTube making controversial game videos.
Did PewDiePie save gaming by introducing it to 12 year old fangirls, or save gaming by introducing it to 12 year old fangirls?
You're missing the correct third choice - PewDiePie had no discernible effect on gaming whatsoever, and no fucks were given.
Neither. That moron is just wasting Youtube's bandwidth.
lol that avatar.
Oh i'll shoot you! , now wheres my money?
runid this faggot is fucking annoying
PewDiePie is awful. Making terrible content, milking every penny from retarded 12 year olds.
Jealous? Of course. Who wouldn't be jealous of a guy who can make tons of money with hardly any effort to quality?
Question.... is... too ... tough...can't..handle .. explodes
