So like.. every battle chest key out there just got invalidated right?
Did retail stores still carry the battle chest? I know online retailers did.
Newegg and amazon still have it, not sure of others. Amazon put "obsolete" in the title.. not sure why they didn't just remove it lol, why sell an obsolete product?

I really liked WoW, I played it in 2004 if I remember correctly and my character was an undead mage, I had to come up with a new name for him and it remained the same one XD
Unfortunately it's been my second and final mmorpg after years of ultima online, it was awesome but I couldn't manage to keep updated and play every day so I left off :'(

Yup! They consolidated a bunch of servers, now there are just 10 instead of 10 million servers to pick from. However, those remaining servers seem to be decently bustling.
I speak up since the random name generator for LotRO for my elf hunter was 'Tidhros'. :)

Collectors pack was at somewhere 50$ if i remember right. I was wandered.

What realm and faction are you playing now? Which is better in terms of updated content? I've heard Blizzard hired Richard A. Knaak to rewrite a bunch of the quests, and form a coherent story that makes sense. I.e. it now plays more like an interactive novel than a 'grindy' MMORPG.

In vanilla WOW I was playing on horde side, I switched to alliance somewhere between Wrath of the Lich King and Cataclysm. Ever since I've been playin on alliance side. :)
Got to level some characters to tell you more about it tid. But I can tell that Warlords and Legion were like a novel indeed, you worked your way through the story while questing, was great fun.
I play on German realms btw.

i recently retired from WoW. back when tokens came out i bought 3 years of game time worth of tokens. and when it ran out i was happy to have 2m gold so i could afford tokens
then came the most expensive tokens ever. for a long time. now im down to 500k gold. and refuse to play anymore since token prices are like 230k gold each.. i just cant afford that . thanks to game time tokens tho i turned $200 worth of them into battlenet funds.
i just dont have it in me to play anymore, i will miss my pally tank tho.

I wish I was that good in making gold. I retired during MoP right before 5.3 hit live but for some time I've playing in a private server and I'm really liking it there. I should really stop and focus on other things but you know how it is.

Hey guys, I was browsing some threads about World Of Warcraft and I just read that today Blizzard retired the Battle Chest.
To this day you had to buy the base game (aka the Battle Chest) to unlock the classic and the previous addons. Now all you have to do is sign up for a subscription, no need to buy the base game anymore.
Also, all accounts are now automatically upgraded to Legion addon status, which means you get that expansion for free (as always as a new addon is upcoming). The Battle for Azeroth will be released on August 14th, so this could very well be a nice place to start if you were curious if WoW is for you.
I might give BfA a try and return for the addon. :)
