Try hitting the computer, preferably with something like a hammer or bat, that always does the trick for me.

Could just be some dust etc. Take some lukewarm water and a sponge and go nuts. Don't turn off your computer, having the fans spin makes it easier.

Also Ive had no problems with Steam for the short period of time Ive been online.
