So I just installed PayDay 2 again...

and got 44 achievements just for starting the game. What is the cause of this? I haven't played it since February.

They have implemented a new "Mayhem" difficulty, between Overkill and Deathwish. Any heists you completed in DW will pop the Mayhem achievement.

That is my best guess without you sharing some of the actual achievements.

Be careful with One Down, you can't just screw around with that difficulty...

I've managed to complete several levels on One Down... You just need a ton of damage dealing skills to kill those cops appropriately.

-New Classic Heist from Payday The Heist

-New shotgun really bad one

-New Stun Grenade

-2 New difficulty modes: Mayhem (a way between Overkill and Deatwish) and One down (+Deatwish and you only can bleed out 1 time before go to custody)

-New masks Meh
