So you know how people are constantly complaining that they have too many points and people enter too many giveaways? How about let the gifter choose how much his entry fee is. The minimum should still be the actual games worth.

So if John made a giveaway for Fortifix and set the point worth to 300P then only diehard fans would enter or none.

To make it griefer proof (if there is anything to grief..:) you could make it only available for people with enough contributions.

I think it's a good idea as long as the points earned on giveaway creation do not increase. I think it could be a good way to get only people who really want to win to enter- if you really want the game would you be willing to spend 200 points on it?

I'm not quite sure how it could be exploited if points earned do not increase.

I agree with this, but needs better suggestions though.

I think contributors with like 250$ put into their profiles by giveaways should be able to boost the point entry to double in any game.

500$ contributors would get triple as max, 1k would get 4 times tops [final].

This would play out well, i think.

At first I thought it was a bad idea, but then I thought about it and it and now I think it sounds pretty good. I'm sure many people enter a bunch of giveaways that they don't really want of games that they might not ever play if they win, just because they have many points. In this way, the entries would be fewer for giveaways with higher points limits, which means that people who think it's worth to spend a lot of points for a game they really want, have a greater chance to win. I guess the simples solution would be to have the options of 1x, 2x, 3x, etc. of the normal points required to enter.

as well as contributors giveaway, ppl have good sence...
they create a giveaway for $1000, few ppl join... few ppl will waste its points of this giveaway, but everybody will receive points for its existance. Creating really expensive giveaways would be the same... hey... i waste 300 points to try fortix... somebody else can take the same 300 points and enter 300 fortix giveaways.... it's my choise how to use them... if i try a 300 points giveaway i cannot say i don't have any points left... i've choosen to use it this way

But he's not talking about changing the value of the game, or the points generated by it, just the points required to enter the drawing.

That is obvious. If it wasn't like that, then it wouldn't have the desirable effect.

Problem is people are entering everything because they don't know what to do with so many points. I am almost constatnly on 300 points now and every suggestion which will decrease the number of entries to single giveaways is a good suggestion from my point of view.

I'm not sure there really is a "problem" with the point system. The only thing I see generating bogus points right now is that CS:GO is still 15 points. The final game should be 15 when it comes out (assuming they charge $15), but the beta should probably be 1 point, to prevent the huge point influx we're seeing from the many listings CS:GO generates. It's a beta that will likely expire eventually, so why should it go for 15 points?

That will also reduce the number of people "donating" the beta and thus getting increased contributor status for something that costs nothing and will have little to no value in the end.

suht hea mõte tglt, see tõenäoliselt vähendaks neid spammer osalejaid, kes tahavad lihtsalt mänge juurde, mida nad nagunii kunagi ei mängi.

As long as it's just for entry I think it's a good idea.

Actually I like it how it is. If you have to many points, no one says that you HAVE TO spend them.
