I would wager there are scripts out there that can take all given variables and brute force every possible outcome. I'm too lazy and just don't care enough to find out if I am right though.

I can clearly remember a mod using "Cakes" for a code once, so I suspect that the nicest codes are being kept out of the normal pool of possible combinations, probably reserved for special occasions.

No, it's more effective against humans tho I think. You've done the bot a favor by putting it into a list and keeping the elements ordered, now they can just generate an array and run through every combination of 5 to find the links.
The method where people use a paragraph of text and capitalize a letter here and there and a number or two is much more effective, but it's easier for humans to notice it. If you're confused as to why I can explain if you'd like.

Fair, I mean no matter what method is used, someone can code a program to eventually find possible combinations. I just think it's easier when someone gives me the list of elements that I can throw in an array in a minute, then start searching through it, vs having to code things like looking for a capital letter in the middle of text not at the start of a word(so like evading countries for instance), or looking for text hidden by the spoiler tag, or looking for italic or bold. Sure you can all of these down 1 by 1, but for many it wont be worth going through all the combinations of tricks you could use to obfuscate the text and make it confusing to deal with and trying to make exceptions in their code to decode that. There's gonna be a guy out there who finds it fun.
