Alice Madness Returns
Price in Europe: 49,99€ = 68.37 U.S. dollars
Lowest Price in USD: $3.99 USD
3.99 is 94% off the usual European price. I ask for it to be marked as bundled.
Comment has been collapsed.
Should be ok - looks like it went to 25 rubles at it's lowest ($0.75) - Click me for proof . Base price = $9.99 so as long it was over $0.50 (or about 16 rubles) I don't see a problem.

This is ridiculous. I paid real money for the PAYDAY 4-pack back in the day and give away the last copy I had, and now that CV value was removed just because it was really cheap in Russia? Last time I checked I was living in Chile and paid in USD$...
So by the current "policy", every game really cheap on sale will end up in the bundle list just because it was over 95% OFF for a short time somewhere in the globe, like it is possible to get to that place in a blink of an eye to buy it cheap...? That's lame. If they will consider regional pricing, at least the job must be done good and complete, with a check from where you are to apply that to the people from that region only, and not as a whole. Western Europe still has to pay much more than the rest, and I bet they didn't consider that...
Now I understand why the ticket I sent to Support more than 3 weeks ago is still pending: They have been working "really hard" to add every possible cheap game to the bundle list.
I think I'm done here, at least for awhile. Have fun people, giveaway creators and entrants.
Comment has been collapsed.
what's ridiculous, is that you believed a game held in your inventory for a long period of time would not decrease in value.
I have somehow miraculously been able to grasp the entire concept while being here half the time you have.
Comment has been collapsed.
Not that I want to make you feel worse, but now imagine what could you do if you had those 7 euros? :D
Sorry for your loss.
Comment has been collapsed.
I was wondering, when this is done what kind of exchange rate do SG use and from when? Is it at the time the game was on sale for that price or is the current exchange rate at the time of checking?
I'm not complaining, just wondering how the process works and how accurate it is. If you were using today's rates and for example, and Russian currency had weakened against the dollar in the meantime between when it was on sale and now then maybe it could push it over the limit of 95%. I'm not saying that happened here, and I haven't a clue what's been happening with the ruble versus the $, just putting it out there as an example.
Comment has been collapsed.
The process is relatively accurate. I don't know the exchange rate used. Probably one of the price comparison sites on the day the list is adjusted.
If you feel there was an error, talk to Shobo, provide proof, and if you're right, he agrees, it will get changed.

Thanks for answering.
It just occurred to me as a couple of posts up in the thread, someone was asking about the Wolfpack DLC. I worked that one out and then someone mentioned the Soundtrack. I clock the soundtrack at reaching 94% off based on today's exchange rate as calculated by Google but I don't know what it was on December 1st, perhaps currency fluctuations would have seen it tip over the edge on that date. It got me thinking about the differences in the market on different days (or even at specific points within 1 day). I know we're splitting hairs but something could easily be 94.8% off based on US prices one day and then if there's a bit of a dip in the relative strength of that currency on the foreign exchange markets, 95.1% the next or it could vary from the morning to the afternoon even.
Cool to know they're receptive to changing if given proof, but honestly I can't be bothered looking at that kind of thing myself. Was just wondering about it and how it works in general.

Well I for one, didn't get my copy from any exploits and I'm very mad about this thing... I wanted to giveaway Just Cause 2 but won't anymore cause in a few days it might get an (*) next to it, and I'll be back to leech status like I am now...

If i was from UK, may be.
And no, i dont, there is no USA flag anywhere. USD is used evrywhere, even in Russia (just not in everyday life), so usd means nothing.
I do paid exactly 29rur, 90% off from 299, nothing abusive here. Dont liek regional pricing? Send angry email to Gaben/steam/valve.
Dont liek cheap/greedy/abusive RU users? ask SG ban all Ru ip's, problem solved.
Comment has been collapsed.
nope - don't like little pricks that believes world should circle around them. Have nothing against Russians - few of the best ppl I met on SG are Russians.
Game prices in every freaking GA on ths site are US store prices shown in dollars. Site uses dollars, i know, hard to notice, but you had over year to do so. Even a chimpanzee would manage to do so in this time - you can trade colourful rocks for your games, noone cares, it doesn't mean whole site should enforce "colourful rocks" currency for it's calculation. Simple as that.
Deal with it and stop QQing like a little girl or leave. Problem solved.

when had the serious sam complete pack a price error? :S Shouldn't have paid about 20 bucks for it, well whatever... hope the one who won it has fun with it :P
Comment has been collapsed.
Well you guys that have hundreds of dollar worth of CV, are not bothered by this, but for the little guy who doesn't have that much it's a big deal... While I agree if Payday The Heist was bundled or whatever from now on it should remain like that, WHY do you take away my credit after the fact when it's says: "If you created a giveaway before a game was in a bundle, you always receive full value." ???
Comment has been collapsed.
Well I don't know why you're accusing me of taking away your credit. I'm just as curious as you of the procedure here so cool off a bit and then write. That helps maintaining your ration thoughts...

It's ok but good thing you cooled a bit off :P I can understand both sides btw. I'm just trying to see it a bit more distant. Well I hope you have nevertheless a good day/evening/morning/weekend :D

Ok so how am I at fault because russians are buying games at a lower price?
Also on Payday it says december 1. Why was that not bundled then? Cause a few days ago when I checked and decided to do a giveaway it wasn't on the bundle list and all was good.
Now I'm afraid to giveaway anymore games because some earthquake will happen in Russia and they'll bundle that too...Nice system.
Comment has been collapsed.
Because that's what anyone is saying.
By this system, you also get the benefit of existing without having to compete with said CV abusers who give away 20+ copies of exploited games. If you weren't whining about this, you would be complaining about the abusers themselves and/or high(er) CV giveaways.
Comment has been collapsed.
sorry this now is a bit non related but that last gif made me laugh :'D
Comment has been collapsed.
It was adden now, like happens with all the bundles etc btw, because SG staff is only like 5 active members and only 1 managing bundle list, they're working for free, have their own life, jobs, hobbies, families and manage SG only in their left free time.
And you don't have to worry about bundling anything, just need to research actual price (and you can save yourself bunch of money anyway by doing this - as you as ANYONE else here can simply trade with some russian on ST for it). How to make sure your game don't end up in Bundle List afterwards
Comment has been collapsed.
Ok thanks for the info, I didn't know about that list! 1 Question - If I was to check this list http://www.steamgifts.com/bundles/list a week ago, was Payday there? If that's so then that's my fault for not checking to make sure it wasn't there.
Comment has been collapsed.
Probably not. As that one corresponds ith setting the CV.
Best bet is what zelghadis said about the bundle wiki. Search for your game there, might show if it has been in a bundle. Also, you can use steamprices.com to see if there is an actual huge discount to be get in total.
But zelghadis pretty much already explained this all in that thread.
Comment has been collapsed.
that's inappropriate what you did there. Show some respect... Hope you learned that at home.
Comment has been collapsed.
Frankly, it's not about the one or two giveaways and if that's all it was, it wouldn't likely be on the bundle list. The point of the matter is that there were quite a few individuals that took it to the extreme, like a considerable number of Carrier Command, which was bought for a penny and got 33 cv apiece or the individuals who gave away like 10 copies of Serious Sam Complete Pack for 95 cv each. It is rather unfortunate that you were caught up as part of the collateral damage and that's something you should blame the abusers for, not the system.
Comment has been collapsed.
There are other games that had pricing errors that lasted for a few min - an hour but aren't included on the abuse list. But carrier command was included (which lasted less than an hour on amazon + you risk having your amazon account and credit card banned from further purcahse from amazon), Hence why some of the people treat the CV system a farce
Comment has been collapsed.
Others weren't included likely because it either didn't go past the 95% discount or that it simply wasn't abused to the extent that Carrier Command, as an example, was. If more attention were drawn to those specific instances and games, they would likely go on the bundle list as well, as precedent dictates.
That being said, I agree with you that the cv system as a whole has tremendous flaws that will likely never really be remedied, mostly because there's a great deal of institutional resistance to removing it and a lack of a better alternative to replace it.
Comment has been collapsed.
It was supposed to be working fine when I first this site tbh, the problem is the one who is handling the list.
Another reason why this system is to be taken lightly is because the abusers have the time to enjoy their inflated CV value due to incompetent updating.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah, I'm all for recruiting people to help Shobo update the bundle list. I've seen many instances where he's been late on a few bundles or missed them altogether, leading to long stretches of time where it'd count as nb cv.
Unfortunately, sometimes, those individuals do get some gain during that period, I've seen some of those exploiters win AAA games from $750 or 1K cv restricted giveaways, when they aren't at that mark by quite a lot of cv without those exploited games. Those cases will continue to encourage others to exploit the system until we're quicker on the uptake about these situations.
Comment has been collapsed.
haha well if the list is true Serious Sam Complete Pack was on the list since july 2013. And I made a giveaway a week ago and there wasn't a (*) either
Comment has been collapsed.
it was not on list, but I will answer your question AGAIN. It got on list with delay like most bundles does, because bundle list is managed by ONE person, already overloaded with work, having his own life and job and not being able to keep track of any bundle or exploit 24/7. So when exploits or non-tracked bundles are reported, even after they ended they end up being manually added with the time the exploit or bundle occured. The dates on the list mean when it occured, not when it was added.
Comment has been collapsed.
Kinda funny how some games that have been in bundles are still not actually bundled. (Kenshi for example)
Comment has been collapsed.
Kenshi was bundled? When and why did I not know of this?! D:
Comment has been collapsed.
Can't have anything good online thanks to Russians eh?
Comment has been collapsed.
While this solution is not perfect and does not please everyone, for consistency it's understandable.
This is in place to prevent the abuse / CV boosting that happens from time to time and certain games.
But as collateral damage the users who didn't abuse get "punished" as well.
Maybe create a separate list from the bundle list, call it the "95% off list", and in this particular list the first copy a user gives the CV is counted normally, but additional copies are added to a "bundle" CV. Not sure if this is possible, but at least it would not "punish" that "poor guy" that gives away 1 copy.
Comment has been collapsed.
The best way would be to create a system that assigns contributors value based on user's IP and the lowest price of a game on the day the giveaway was created.
Comment has been collapsed.
we could ask NSA for an API, so we can check where a game has been bought :3
Comment has been collapsed.
I do understand and I agree with all the rules about giving away bundle games and not gaining full CV from it.
But I do not understand why CV drops when game appears in a bundle. I mean if I bought it before it appeared in a bundle, then why my CV drops down. It is truelly unfair that I have paid full price for a game and month later my CV is taken away. Also that means that in near future everyone will loose CV for games such as Tomb Raider or Batman Origins etc. That is unfair. Law is not retroactive and CV shouldn't be either. Otherwise CV is simple pointless.
Price glitches are also unfair. They take place in specific countries and for very short period of time, so why I have to be punished by taking away my hard worked CV, just because some stupid price errors I can't even use because I don't live in a country where they take place.
Comment has been collapsed.
As far as I know CV doesn't drop down when it goes into a bundle, only if the date of the bundle is set before the date you created your giveaway. I made a Batman Arkham City giveaway a few days before the WB bundle leaked and got full CV of it so I'm pretty sure that is the case. You do lose CV however should the general price of the game drop down
Comment has been collapsed.
I lost about 30$ which is kind of lot for me and I dunno why.
I still think that once earned CV shouldn't be taken away. Even if price drops down.
And if SG takes my CV, it would be nice to know why and what rule makes it.
Maybe some private message should be sent to me or sth.
Comment has been collapsed.
Note: Giveaways created prior to a bundle always receive full value
That explains one thing I was worry about. Thanks doctorofjournalism
But I cant find any information about loosing once earned CV.
And what happens if had 155CV, entered 150$ contributor giveaway and my CV dropped to 120 before giveaway ended. Am I still participating in it or I've just been kicked from the perticipation?
Comment has been collapsed.
You lost CV because the price of Iron Sky Invasion dropped down to 20$ from 40$. And if you would have entered a contributor giveaway with a required CV to drop down to a lower CV before the end you would still be competing, the only thing is the giveaway creator has the full right to re-roll in that case since you don't meet the requirements anymore. The same goes for group giveaways where you leave the group while being entered in some of their group giveaways.

The value is tied directly to the price in the Steam store for two reasons:
1 - Technically speaking, the current site infrastructure could not handle caching/storing multiple prices and is therefore linked to Steam API so that the site can actually function (cg has stated this multiple times).
2 - The price/value decay encourages more continual giveaways and discourages people from simply gifting a large amount in order to achieve high CV and then "camp" for the rest of their SG days by only entering giveaways instead of creating them. These often go hand-in-hand, as you'll find a majority of the "campers" gift many copies of games with exploited prices.
Comment has been collapsed.
Thanks again for explaining whole process. Now I know that it's made as it is for reasons.
And excuse my curiosity. It's not I'm mad or sth. I haven't experienced CV drop down before so I didn't care so much about it but now when it happened, I wanted to know a lilo bit more about whole SG system.
Thanks again for all informations guys.
PS.
"Campers" - LOL very accurate description

Yep I got wiped out almost back down to the 30 dollar cap. Due to this incident, unfortunately, I won't be specifically buying non-bundle games to giveaway here as they won't count for anything the next time Russians scam a pricing exploit. I can just give away left over bundle games I have sitting around and do the same thing, giveaway game gifts and not get CV.
Comment has been collapsed.
If you gift the game before an exploit or bundling occurs, your CV remains unaffected.

I'm not sure, that's how many people just got cut down.

this sucks, i buy the game in my country and create a giveaway two weaks ago... if i know i could add other game from humble bundle.... they must be more faster... now im fucked
