Hello guys. The thread creator has not logged in for months and I added him on Steam but he refused.
I don't think we will ever be invited to that group so I created another one. I hope you like it and I hope it will be active with giveaways and help topics. If you use Linux you can add me and I'll make an invitation.
Edit: My group is not needed anymore. I created it because the group in discussion is not active at all but I have just found a private Linux group which is very active. The name is Linux Users Exclusively (no dual boot)

I would be happy to receive an invite as well. I myself am a daily Linux Mint or openSUSE User and the only reason I still have a dual boot system with Windows 7 are - of course - Windows-only games.

hello, I have started a thread in that group. I know an admin or mod went through the group and kicked users that were playing Windows games. As the group is Linux Users Exclusively (no dual boot) I don't know if you will get an invite. Either way, I have brought your request to the group's attention.

Yeah, I've also noticed some posts and discussions about the degree of exclusivity within that group. I guess I'll have to wait and see how it turns out. Anyway, thanks a lot for forwarding my request.

I believe you were sent an invite so login to Steam and check!
As far as exclusivity, there was a large "kicking" when about half of the members were playing recently released Windows-only games. Doesn't make sense to have a group called "Linux Users Exclusively (no dual boot)" when members clearly aren't doing so.
This is the same reason I stopped doing giveaways for the "We only by linux games" group - many members in that group are in it just to leech.

I posted a link to your profile in the group. Also, if you are interested: https://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/oelft/soma
you qualify even without being a member of the group :)

I'd love an invite, didn't even have a windows system in the house until about a year ago, even now it requires streaming to a linux box to access. 1 windows system, 5 GNU/Linux systems of varying distros, steam on all of them.

Ubuntu user for a long time.
No dual boot or similar so I would be happy to be part of the party. :)

Am I eligible for an invite perchance? My primary (and secondary, and tertiary) system(s) are all running GNU/Linux distros (Mint, Arch and a perpetually upgraded Ubuntu originally installed pre-Warty, respectively).
I did break down a few months ago and throw a windows box into the mix to stream from, blame FO4 for that, but vastly prefer to avoid streaming where possible. GNU/Linux compatibility is a highly preferred feature in any case, a show-stopper in many cases. I do, however, activate any games that aren't linux only if I get them in a bundle with linux games I'm interested in.
I'm getting rid of quite a number of games in the backlog, organized and ready to list 187 of them, out of the 1800 game backlog I need to make my way through in short order (some % of that is being saved for trades or personal gifts). I'd be more than happy to pull out the linux compatible games and list them under this group if that makes sense to others involved, many of them I likely know first hand if they are actually playable/working under linux too (e.g. not Eodor, Infectionator, Infinifactory, etc.) regardless of how they list game compatibility in steam.

I'm not currently running Linux on my primary PC but if I was invited I would give your group all of the Linux games that the bundles I buy have. It's crazy but even though I am running Windows, Linux compatibility is a selling point for me when it comes to games. I like the feeling of freedom and knowing that if I did decide to make my next rig a Linux machine I would be taking the best of my gaming library with me. My last real gaming rig also ran Ubuntu and I recently made an effort to sample all of the top Linux distros to see what direction I might go when building my next machine.

Hi, Arch User here, without any dualboot ;), I would like to join the group :)

Recently purchased, played, or what?
And as for not being a mod/decision maker... yo -do- make the decision of passing the requests along.
I have a beta steam machine with the beta update of Brewmaster (SteamOS 2) on it, a dedicated netbook, and a dual-boot Windows system. I only play the Windows-only games on someone else's computer while my daughter sleeps (because she sleeps next to my computer).

I think they review recent play time. So for example, if you've played 80 hours in the last 2 weeks but only 20 hours in games that show linux support that could be an issue.
The main problem I've seen on SG is people join 1000+ groups and when we want to share linux games with other linux users it doesn't usually end up that way. This is why the LUE Gamers group went exclusive and invite-only.
Anyway, I posted a link to your profile. If you talk with the group admin (I think he reaches out to users if he has questions), I hope he'll hear you out :)

i certainly don't qualify nor tbh interested anyways, but out of curiosity and maybe it might help others too.. do you know if the admin/mods of that group take idling cards into consideration? i mean, they could not actually ever touch or have windows installed and still yet launch "windows only" games via archi steam farm idling. i'd just hate to see them deny good folks who only wanted to farm the little bit of $ back out of gaben. (◑‿◐)
might be something you just wanna mention to them to consider ^^
personally im a huge fan of linux, but still have windows for gaming purposes.. thats why i'm not interested.

agreed ... I brought this up because sometimes my "game time" is all farming while I play offline. I don't know how well they track but for example myself - I have nearly 500 games, over 100 of which run on Windows only. In the last 10 years I have bought 1 Windows game ... the rest were free or part of bundles before I knew about SG.
I think a major factor would be if users are playing recently released AAA games that are Windows exclusives.
I agree with your thinking on the state of this thread, but it's here and gets bumped from time to time, most of which I notice. If users really want, I have had some add me on Steam to ask for an invite, which I have then posted.

Even if I have to wait long: I would also be happy to be part of the group.

I'm new to the SteamGifts community, but have found myself disappointed by the GNU/Linux offerings. Since I'm only willing to enter giveaways for GNU/Linux games, I feel my chances are rather slimmer than others'. So, I've created a group for people who are in the same boat. The gist of it is that members should post GNU/Linux giveaways to this group, rather than publicly. Given the small size of the GNU/Linux community, there are no other barriers to entry.
