No... that meaning of puto for the males is old and highly unused, but, instead, it is used like that for the female (whore, prostitute, etc). Puto in the common usage, and in the meaning of the phrase "puto el que lee", is a pejorative word for homosexual, more similar to the word "fag".

I would if I was leaving in North America. In Europe Spanish is not that popular and to be fair it is kinda useless (at least in the part of Europe that I leave). However, I am thinking of taking German lessons in case Germany buys the whole Greece :D
