That's a shame. Thanks for letting me know though.

The game is also included in amd rx bundle, so, if you're planing to buy new rx570, rx580 or rx vega no need to waste extra money on the game. https://www.amd.com/en/where-to-buy/raise-the-game

Well... that's one way to look at it. Another would be that buying a GPU and getting a game bundled with it, that you already own, is kind of wasteful. That's happened to me plenty of times and it's real annoying.
As for everything else you said, that's not really any of your business if you ask me. The developers/publishers are more than capable dealing with these things themselves. It's not our job to defend their marketplaces, and even less so trying to shame people for spending their money how they prefer. That's pretty despicable if you ask me.
Price glitches are their responsibility for example, criticizing people who take advantage of that is completely nonsensical if you ask me. A deal was offered from a legit store and someone took it - whether or that deal was meant to be or not shouldn't be the consumers responsibility to even know. By the same logic you could even criticize the deal highlighted in this thread... how dare someone buy a game at -55% off? That's less money for the devs. Shame on all of us. ^.^
It's not our job to make sure they make money, that's theirs. As long as we don't pirate, steal or cheat (none of which was proposed here) then it's up to the devs/publishers to incite us to buy their stuff. Simple as that.

He said if you're going to buy one of those graphics cards anyway, it would be a waste of money to buy the game seperately, in addition to the copy you get anyway. I agree with some of the things you said (for instance I try to encourage people to buy more games for full price all the time). But in this case there was no mention of piracy or any of the other stuff.

That's good to know although the code only seems to work in certain regions though.

Just fyi, Stardock (creators of Star Control Origins) are in a legal battle with the creators of the franchise as they only have the rights to the trademark and not the copyright. Read more here: https://www.reddit.com/r/starcontrol/comments/8120uu/star_control_legal_issues_megathread/

You would think that detail would have been dealt with before publishing a game called "Star Control Origins"....
In the meantime, it seems their plan is to sell as many copies as possible before they are forced to desist.

if it is part of a video card promo, there will be tons that will be listed super cheap on ebay. stuff like '
AMD Gift Code for Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Strange Brigade, Star Control Origin'
AMD, anyway. i remember this geforce one was a hassle.
i'll probably wait a bit and check then.

I am sure there have been times where certain codes are for America so you'll be lucky some times and other times unlucky. I am sure someone will do a code for this for Americans at some stage.

Just got a email with a code for Star Control Origins for 55% off via VOIDU.
It means you can get a brand new game released on steam just over a week ago for £12.55. (currently £30.99 on steam)
Code is STARCONTROL.
Looks like code for discount is not available in US.
