Hello, i'm a huge Fan of Retro Gaming, also Dos Games or Games from 80 to late 90 because it was my childhood.

I have 3D Realms Anthology and some Dos / Classics on Steam, but there's more on Steam.
Have anyone a list of all these Games or can i filter it to a particular year?

I have the complete Sega Collection on Steam except Sonic CD ^^
(Because SMS II was my first console)

That would be awesome, although the most of them free today, but i want it on Steam!!!! (Because i can never lost it and find it everytime^^)

I have
Sega Genesis Classics 1-5 (EU: sega Mega Drive Classics Pack 1-5) [5 singles packs]

These Games single on Steam but listed as DLC in the Sega Genesis Classics
Sonic Spinball
Sonic 3D Blast
Sonic the Hedgehog
Sonic the Hedgehog 2
Sonic 3 and Knuckles

58 Games in 1 Pack (it's 1 Program in steam, all games listed as DLCs)
Called "SEGA Genesis & Mega Drive Classics

I think Sonic CD is a single game not in the Mega Drive Collection as DLC

The newer Sonic and Dreamcast Games are all singles game on Steam

You should really consider GOG.com for classic games from that time period.

Install them locally and add them via steam-interface. gog.com games are far better supported anyways.

so you're more fan of a steam d&ck size than retro gaming.

i want all in one platform / library :D
That would be the best option, i have many DRM Free Games on my PC, but it's comfortable to have all in 1

I agree that a solution for this needs to be found. I don't think that Steam can be a one fits all size thing though. Too many things that like won't make it ever to it. Or just be crippled out of the box.

Idea would be to use a full featured front-end for game collection purpose which integrates with Steam and other services. As well as indexing all your local games. I've looking for such and would gladly take hints for such a thing.

If nothing can be found i might roll my own eventually. (I'd probably use the Desura Client then as a base)

Pirates! Gold. Great game and it comes with 2 games, the original and the 94' remake

Also gog is better when it comes to retro gaming

I just saw that the old gold box D&D games are on GOG as well. They were great back in the day.

Wasteland. Still a great game and it provides background for the modern Wasteland 2 story.

X-COM series
Not to be confused with XCOM. (Which is also a very good game, but so fundamentally different to classic X-COM in terms of gameplay that it's pointless to try and compare)

Consider getting a retro handheld:

http://a320.emulate.su/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/Pandora_2.png (thats actually its predecessor)
http://bfy.tw/1RtL

Much more focussed on retro console gaming but a few (select) pc classics are available too. They have their own "store" / repository too

http://repo.openpandora.org/

I played XCom for instance on its pre-predecessor which ran native on the device. The handheld display nicely matches the low ppi graphics of that time and looks awesome on.

Alternatively get DOSBox for your PC directly. Though i still believe the small screen fits the era better than your presumably FullHD in front of your computer. Actually thats what Retroism is actually doing: they just bundle old games with the DOSBox runtime. I would hope they contribute back. Though i have this feeling they don't do.

http://www.dosbox.com/

Now to feed your DOSBox with stuff is pretty easy. Old installation media of course. Though it can be partially very troublesome. I couldn't get a Hannibal CD to be recognized for the installer. Sometimes its far easier to just grab from the cloud. Google for Abandonware.

BTW do you actually read those comments i gave?

Searching on Steam with retroism as keyword :-)

http://store.steampowered.com/search/?publisher=Retroism

Btw I have still got a running dos 6.22 + win 3.11 rig

And over a hundred of those good old games in the big carton boxes and with keyboard cards and REAL manuals :-)

Commenting on my post will drain your brains as I'm from the future :-)

But yes to be precise my old rig is running win 3.11 + dos 6.22 + norton commander (dos the easy way: point and click) and for some games Qemm.

I'm still hesistant to recommend Retroism stuff. I would like to believe that they bundle DOSBox with the game and do contribute back to the DOSBox project but alas i doubt they do. In that case they would just leech others work.

For sure you aren't wrong but I personally always try to make those kind of games work be it on my legacy rig or new rig; be they original boxed games, Steam games or GoG games :-)

Using a dedicated rig is hardcore but surely does its job very well :)

It's been a time i since we were used to wite autoexec's and config.sys' :))

I'm just baffled that my legacy rig in general and the different parts in it are holding it out on for so long :-)

Well physically those parts very much endured for much longer than their usefullness for modern usage. People tended to throw away working stuff just because of being old :(

Things have changed since then. Its perfectly fine to use computers as old as 5y now and still chugging ahead with great speeds.

Might inspire me to do likewise and roll a retro rig. But what case to use for this? Assumably i'd stuff an AthlonXP class into this. I know the speed is far above what's needed but there are still those slowdown programs floating around. Its my oldest hardware i still have anyways :)

Still have this Flex-ATX / uATX / Mini-ITX case here:

But i fear all mainboard available are too big for :(

What about this filter? I think most should pop up with both Retro and Classic tags selected.

This one was on a bundle, and really has some of the retro gaming style of the NES, so maybe you would like it. It's called Retro Game Crunch http://store.steampowered.com/app/290040/
