Dont you think it is kinda pathetic? For the last 3 months i've lost almost 100 CV only because games i gaveaway long time ago lost a bit on their value.

Don't worry, that happens when you get older, luckily they have pills for that. Make sure you consult your doctor.

And here comes the "maybe we should delete the CV" comments. To be honest, since more and more games are being bundled, it will become obsolete by itself, imo.

i would say getting rid of CV would be a bad idea, 90% of the people on this site have lived on the CV rules for over a year, they are all used to it and enjoy having CV, if all of a sudden their was no CV and you can enter anything and everything you want as long as u have the points... most ppl would find donating to be pointless and will just give their unwanted games to friends instead of to strangers on SG... i have no friends in real life so even if this happened all my left overs would still come here lol, only leave my parents house like once a month, i hate human interaction so SG is where i would send my games if i had extra's

i feel giveaways would decrease which would be bad business for SG, no one likes losing their user base

Contributor Value. It's the total price on Steam of all the games you've given away. When people make giveaways, they can restrict them so that only people who have given away a certain value or more can enter. Also, if the price of a Steam game is permanently reduced, your CV goes down by that much, even if you gave away the game before the price cut, which is what the top post is lamenting.

why do you even care?
if you are giving away games for a contribution value, you are doing it for a wrong reason ;)

AC III -10, Fable III -30 -> -40 $ only. Not that this is important, though.

What is pathetic is people whining about CV.

This site is calle SteamGIFTS because people give GIFTS so others can enjoy them. This isn't freaking SteamwhohasthehighestCV .

It is a big deal, because lots of people here make contributor giveaways and if someone loses CV how can he/she enter those giveaways ? Most good/non-bundle games are in high-contributor giveaways.

What is kind of pathetic is that you don't realize that the CV system is set up that way intentionally to reward continued giving, as opposed to one time "investments".

Do not giveaway new games - only oldies - that's the main SG rule lol

As you may have noticed by now, giving things solely for the CV is an endless treadmill. No matter how many 90% off non-bundle things you give away, you'll never reach the finish line. And the traders or Russian guys will always get better deals anyway. :)

If you're trying to scrape together enough CV for a chance at some big giveaway, why not just buy the game directly? Better odds that way too. :)

There was me thinking people did game giveaways for the fuzzy feeling. :P

The system requires you to continue to be a contributor if you wish to continue receiving the benefits that come with being a contributor. Working as intended and I agree with it 100%.
