My current computer isn't the greatest, but more than enough for my games at this time, so I'm happy.

Not sure about the GPU, but your processor and RAM seem to be great.

I built my rig 1 and a half years ago. I'll probably upgrade it at the end of the year. In the meantime I have my PS4 too :P.

  • Win 7
  • 128 GB SSD harddisk (System configuration)
  • 1.5 TB Harddisk for games and other things :P
  • 16 GB Ram
  • Intel Core i7-3820 @3.6 GHz
  • Nvidia geforce GTX 680

Core i7 930 at 4.01 GHz

GeForce GTX 470

6 GB of RAM

128 GB M4 + 1 TB Spinpoint F3

About to hit four years old with no upgrades but an SSD and a green cold cathode in that time. The RAM could use an upgrade (mostly because web browsers hog so much these days) and I've been meaning to grab a 4 TB internal HDD to sync with my external...but other than that, there hasn't been much reason for me to upgrade, which genuinely surprises me. When I built it, I imagined doing semi-major upgrades every two years, but there isn't really anything it struggles with. I figure once DDR4 goes mainstream, I'll finally do a large overhaul.

Its pretty funny how long they last nowadays, back in the day it was more money and parts needed upgrading more so....

Well even if you do get a new PC, if you just whack in more RAM and a new GPU that system would still be quite a capable gaming rig. I think I would upgrade my i7 920 once Intel releases 10nm and below.

I hope you realize you can't really run more than about 3 gb of ram on a 32 bit Windows. (Assuming you don't run it through a Windows server. (I think that's how you get past it? o.o))

Oh and I forgot storate, 1 250GB and one 500GB. Almost out of diskspace. I scraped these from laptops.

Need to to a few upgrades such as move onto intel and add fans, buy a monitor, and HDDs but otherwise really great computer.

AMD Radeon HD 7850

Built in 2009 for the most part. Replaced the original 4870 when it finally cooked itself. The 7850 runs a full 45°C cooler and is quieter to boot. Also replaced the original 4GBs of RAM with the current stuff which I got cheap thanks to an Amazon misprice.

Still serves me pretty well despite the crappy CPU. No problem running Dark Souls II at 60fps.
