I didn't romance him, because Liara is my One True Love (in Mass Effect), but I do love him lots and lots. Maybe in a future playthrough... Although I'd have to resist Liara.

I ended up with Liara in ME somehow, so I can understand... But I wholeheartedly recommend romancing Garrus, especially for a Paragon playthrough, it's full of adorable dorkiness :)

I'll start with Fenris, the sexy elf from Dragon Age 2! That game sucked compared to origins but it had Fenris in it! Which was the highlight of it for me. >>
Then there is Thane from Mass Effect 2 (notice a theme with 2s).
And last but not least, a hero you must live under a rock to have not heard of.. Cloud. I don't need to say his last name, or what game he is from. ;p

I played DA:2 3 times, one for each class (fem! Hawke) and I romanced Fenris on my first playthrough. I tried Anders for my second with my mage because it kinda felt fitting but he was nothing compared to sexy Lyrium elf man and I kept eyeing him longingly while we quested so I went back to him for my 3rd playthrough as well. >> If you haven't played it yet, you should for Fenris alone. ;D

Don't get me started on some of the writing in DA2... Although I don't really believe that Justice became Vengeance? I mean, all spirit stuff is a bit vague. I am upset that he no longer has a cat... But I love him so much. ): I hate how awful both the writers and the fandom are to him.

I have similar complaints about Thane in ME3, Bioware somehow just forgot about him (they actually admitted that) because his writer had left and you only get one sleazy dialogue and a make-out session, which doesn't even unlock the paramour achievement.. Nobody mentions him dying and you don't even get a chance to help him get a cure which was heavily hinted at in 2 and the shadow broker dlc - lung transplants and some new hanar gel etc etc. Which felt really really sad.
So I feel you on the bad writing! As for the spirit stuff it is really vague indeed, probably on purpose. I haven't played inquisition yet so I don't know what is his eventual fate but he got a bit fucked up in 2. Poor Anders all he wanted was a cat. :/

Well, at least for ME3 there's the ThaneMOD, right? That's... something, at least. (I've only played through the Mass Effect trilogy once so far, and I romanced Liara, so I don't know much about Thane's romance route. But I can see where you're coming from, definitely.)
The best weapon to counter the bad writing is denial. Just deny it. Deny all of it.
And Inquisition is quite good, but... I have so many issues with it. I haven't finished the newest DLC yet, so I don't know if there will be more to complain about, but just... I'll complain about just one thing right now, and that is Fiona. Fiona, probably the best Dragon Age character ever. Oh, how she deserved better...

I whitelisted you. :) This is the closest I can get to SG friends I suppose. This may come as a surprise, but I only found out about the Thanemod two nights ago, I didn't even know they had done it. Reading about it gave me hope, I will have to install and play anew with it, although that will happen in about a year from now (I am leaving for studies and I am only taking my laptop with me which of course can't run ME3, so poor Thane will have to wait).
And yes, I have found that headcannon is the best cannon when it comes to bad writing.
