We're in the same situation. What I do is try to find people who need some help with Java, last time I got $25 for a job I did in one hour (someone hit me up if you need some help :p). So my advice to you is to learn some skills you can apply remotely (web development, programming, etc). O salimos a bachaquear por ahi.

Sorry for your situation man, the U.S. has problems with our minimum wage and it is way higher than that. There isn't a single state in the U.S. that you can afford a one bedroom apartment on U.S. minimum wage and the studies showed that you now need to work 60-80hrs a week to pay for a single bedroom apartment in the U.S. because of how much the 1% have screwed over the middleclass in the last 40 years. Everything used to be fine here and minimum wages used to support people, however now it cant even cover an apartment, it seems a lot of the world have these issues but I hope your situation improves. What the world needs are honest politicians that will fix these problems and not just care for their own interests like most of the last 50 years of politicians around the world.

Well, I'd suggest, if you don't have a restricted internet access, browse for free and trial access of sites like Lynda and e-learning tools, then learn something that you could find a good gamma of oportunities, such as web design or mobile programming, which one does your gut feels more into...

Do your way up to this on your free time and go for some freelancing sites, as a lot of them hire people worldwide for quick jobs and pay very well. Then build your way up to a local business or at the same time too.

It's an amazon owned company, completely legit, and its low paying shit, but its still better paying than your job. Once you've done some jobs and passed some qualifiers its easy to make 3-4USD per hour. Payments take up to a month to approve however, so dont quit your day job yet. Te llegan clientes sin tener que mover un musculo (si haces tu oferta bien, claro) y las unicas cosas malas que tiene son 2: despues de completar tu trabajo tienes que esperar 2 semanas para poder sacar el dinero a Paypal y que por cada 5 dlls que ganas de quitan 1, pero pues le ofrecen seguridad a tus clientes y promocion a tu anuncio asi que creo que esta decente.
