This is the message I have gotten from an SG member, whose account has been hacked too. I am showing this message just to warn everybody that if you receive that message, DON'T PRESS THE LINK

Exactly, I think you can click the link, but DON'T login with Steam account. If not, you are safe, because I press the link, didn't login, and nothing happened

Just don't try to login through the fake Steam login popup.

So I'm curious, how are accounts being hacked? So far I have gotten similar messages from at least 9 different users (I unfriended anyone who sent me spam, some are even reputable users here on SG)...

Is this some kind of sophisticated attack or just a standard phishing attack (directs you to a page that looks like the steam login page to collect your username/password)?

If so, I can't believe people are still falling for this nowadays!
Also why aren't they using two-factor authentication (the steam mobile guard thing)?

oh I see, a good-old phishing scam.

I guess no matter how advanced our apps and tools get, you can always take advantage of the "human factor" :)

I'm impressed how the oldest trick on the internet still works flawlessly.
I remember myself playing Age of Empires I when this type of fraud was a thing...
