So Did any of you guys here win anything from this game?
Or the cheaters who are using auto clickers and some other scripts got everything for themselves?
And a little GA: https://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/xSzbF/cornerstone-the-song-of-tyrim

There's a SHITLOAD of cheating...

...but as others said mini-game scripting isn't at all a problem.

The 'cheating' is people winning stuff on their bot accounts

With 3000+ bot accounts, the_l01rka had multiple wins on lots of planets. There are lots of other obvious botters too if you start checking out winners, and likely many other winners are also bots that weren't stupidly obvious about it by numbering their accounts.

That user's accounts and many others are banned now according to Valve, though I doubt they redistributed prizes to non-bot accounts or anything, and I'm sure there are enough other active bots still that it doesn't matter much at all.

Thankfully these aren't gifts (and games are locked to the winning account), or we'd be seeing even more of this stuff, but still for each bot win it's another real user that didn't get a prize either

Anyway this is at least digital stuff and developers would lose nothing, if they give other users than those bots some gifts as they could generate millions of keys

Wrong. Digital products doesnt mean free.

The variable production cost of each additional unit is zero, and that's the only relevant detail in context.. Generating one key or a million keys only to shred them all immediately has the exact same cost (and even that fixed cost is materially negligible, but that's beyond the point anyway), so it doesn't matter for the situation.

I can't see any point you're pushing towards that doesn't dismiss the specific (not wrong) details in order to zoom back and make some much broader generalization outside the original context.

Not even bothering playing it.

Given the millions of people playing the probably hundred or less of each key. It's very very low odds.

I got level 9 without cheating (AFK XP for the win) though would have gotten higher if I swapped to higher planets... I stick around on low's for the games though, I rather prefer the small chance to win over this badge I'll never max out.

Nothing won so far.
Checked out a few winners, and yes, bots are snatching up most game wins sadly enough :(

Scripts are not cheating because the "game" and the badges are designed for script users.

One thing many people never realized -- once in a while there is a huge BOSS fight in one of the planets (I saw it twice, when the planet was about to get conquered, but it might have been a coincidence). These fights give TONS more XP than the others.

These two boss fights took me from Level 5 to Level 12 quite easily.

To answer the OP -- never won anything though (well, except cards, hats and other stuff like that). I imagine I wouldn't anyway, given the huge amount of users.

Cheers!

Have not won but don't expect to.
My guy is Level 6. No scripts. Don't expect to get much higher but its not like it matters much. I think you get a card for each level but I'm not sure. I think I got an card when I hit 6 but was not really paying attention. And I was not looking for that before on the other level ups. Its too far to the next level to care.

Note. Enter a planet. Close the page. Your time is still going up. You don't need to keep the page open. The only diff is that you don't go to another planet when the one your on is finished.

I play once day for 6 min to get my 3 cards. I check 3 or 4 times a day to see if my chosen planet is still active.

I'm level 12 without using scripts - just thanks to the bosses -- those give allot of EXP! (See attachment)

Sighery found a nice Twitter bot telling you when one appears:

Wow thx for the info Reforced I was starting to think Bosses are not real xD
Btw I just enter that tile and a boss battle starts or what? Asking since I entered the last Boss tile from the tweet but it was the same :)

I just saw my first boss. The world view had a red shaded box that showed a boss had showed up. The tile was only half complete so they must be random. Took me from level 6 to 8.

They show up randomly when the planet itself has a high conquer rating. And they really give a ton of XP.

Same as many people here.
Scripted the f<3<3k out of the game just to level up the badge.
No games won ofc.
I've met once the boss but never again :c
Also I've installed a cra<3<3y script because I'm no hacker and the ones requiring python or php gave me tons of errors while installing them so I gave up :c :c :c

"cheating" in a game built to be scripted
Citing a Kotaku article earnestly
'being concerned' about people diluting your chance to win games when they aren't (since it's just based on time spent on-planet) and you have virtually nil chance to win anyway

Sorry y'all late to the scripting party. Better luck next time.

Saliens is, at its core, a simple tower defense game.

I stopped reading at this point xD

'being concerned' about people diluting your chance to win games when they aren't

Bots have won plenty. Look at the toppost of this page, leading to Reddit showing you 1(!) persons' 5 bots winning a SINGLE(!) giveaway.
And they are not alone, about 25% of the keys goes to bots. That's not a minor issue... and a significant lowering of chances for all other people.

Script? When used it is not a game.

The other moment ago, the boss was there.
From Lv 7 I quickly became the second half of Lv 9.

Well, valve is encouraging the cheating so...¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The maximum is Lvl 25 requires 26,400,000 exp.
Rank 5 badge is at Lvl 21 16,800,000 exp.

I'm pretty sure that's a script message and not Valve rubbing it in your face. I could be wrong tho.

Started scripting late, but hopefully will manage to get to rank 5 badge, prob won't make it to 6. Had to update script today I guess they introduced bosses to give users more xp to get higher salien badge. The way I see it, running scripts is helping finish giveaways otherwise no one would win any games at all instead of a super low chance, I'd encourage everyone to at least help out if they can.

Does the author thought about how many planets wouldnt be conquered without the scripts? I mean: Everyone can idle on the planets until they are conquered by the script-users. So there is no disadvantage for everyone, because all you have to do is to join a planet. If you think about, EVERYONE gets an advantage because the odds are better with every planet. So I didnt get the point of this thread? The only advantage for the script user is in fact, that youll get a higher Saliens-level and as part of it a higher steam badge and maybe +100 xp. Ah and youll get a 3 cent item every Salien level... So my question: Are you kidding?

Kotaku is known for doing absolutely no research and releasing opinion pieces rather than actual facts. They are basically a gossip column for gamers. The fact they call themselves journalists with a straight face is amusing.

Yes, because Valve couldn't possible made a better game and reduces the required grinding.
That's just impossible!

(And going by the Steam Universe mention, it was obviously written on day 1, they got quickly outranked by the Steamdb and Saliens scripts)

The game is worse than actual clicker games on Steam. I stopped wasting time with it, just open it 3 times each day to get the cards. Don't give a crap if I only get the rank 1 or 2 badge for it.

Actual clicker games actually try and be fun or, more commonly, at least try and be engaging enough that they can leech you out of some microtransaction fees. So obviously, they're going to be far better developed than anything that'd come out of Valve "We lost any sense of how to create playable games long ago" Development. :P
