Steam doing a Christmas sale this year?

Hm, I read that event cards are already dropping when crafting - are they dropping for purchases as well? I just bought something worth $10+ and got that weird sound that usually means I have something new in my inventory, but it didn't show anything (but also, my inventory is super wonky a lot of times)
