If you want to do a giveaway why not just here?

If you indeed point to a tremor ref as suggested it's still a ref even if's pointing from another page.

Wish something would be done against it, you keep spamming everything you can with it.
Everytime you get 1 or 2 suckers signing up you get what you wanted, it's not classy, it's shitty.

Under Free Games Button, at first he did not give away games but only used his blog for his ref.
But if he gets 1 or 2 good refs those free games are earned back within days, thus if he has more refs it's all bonus for him. He only uses those giveaways really to lure people to get into his ref link.

[Edit] or it seems he is a dev and he can just give away a game of his own and just earn from all the refs.

Yes you did, stop lying, even if it is not on this website or even when you hide and try to trick people in to it with your blog, it it's still a link posting to a ref link.
Noone is blind everyone can see the ref link, you are just doing damage control now.

It is completely fine having a ref link, we arent forcing people to click it at all

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

No it isn't , atleast it shouldnt be, you aren't even warning people that they will use a ref link or where they are going, as i said you trick people into it. Also at first your blog was just mainly because you wanted people to use your ref link and you did not even have giveaways this is just to mask it or think the blog would be more "okay" with it.

You don't take a hint but you just shrug your shoulders and continue as long as you get your refs. Which is in the same line of people sending email spam and as long as a few suckers keep falling for it, they earn something out of it.

Referral links are not allowed in the community, and if you choose to post a link, please be sure all referral codes have been removeds

Thus you only giveaway stuff to advertise it and try to get refs out of it rather then out of the goodness of your own heart without needing to get anything back out of it.

Hmm, I'm sure other people may disagree, but for me a tremor referral link on a page is a wonderful shorthand for "ignore me, please." :)

If your page is trying to raise a bit of money with an Amazon affiliate link, for example, and you tell people what it is, they generally understand. Hey, if you buy something via this link, I get a small commision to help keep this website running, blah blah etc. People know what that means, they've seen it before, and if they like you they might even click it. :)

But there's nothing you can say to make a ridiculous "get paid to" website referral link look good. Hmm, I don't know any nice way to say it, but it makes your page look like it's been made by an unemployed teenager. Hey, if you spend a few hours signing up for spam, lying in surveys and installing viruses for me, I'll earn a few pennies. Thanks! Every little bit helps! :)

If you're a developer of a game, you can have your account upgraded to a developer, which allows you to make unlimited giveaways, so you can giveaway mass copies of your game.

Add anime boobs or make it cheap and have cards and you can have a successful game, barely any wok done.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

If you go the boob rout, you'll also see your cards go for a silly amount of money, and if you have some rare backgrounds with anime boobs, you'll see people sell them for 13€+ on the community market (which means that you'll get more profit for each sold unit)!

And the sad part is that that is not the worst game that has made it onto steam. At least the developer added some glue to hold all the pieces together (it got all over the place and the end result looks terrible, like a 3 year old trying to glue together its first macaroni & glitter artwork, but he did at least do it). We have "developers" who just bought the game from another place and scribbled their name on it, like this one, and of course games where the developer just bought the box that the game was supposed to come in and tried to sell it like a complete project, like this one (which luckily got removed from the store)

Everything you do here is to spam links to your 3rd party site, which contains ref links.

But the link is not unneccesary to the giveaway...? The link is needed to access the giveaway... The ref link is just there for actual members of the group that want to help him...

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

True, It is unneccesary for the giveaways, but unless i am mistaken him with someone else, he only has those giveaways since recently and at first his blog was only 1 entry that contained his ref info.
Regardless it does not matter, he tricks people with his ref link which anyone can just click, you don't need to be a member of this group.

He is aiming on people entering his giveaway which anyone can enter, but then search further on the site, see hey i can earn free games, click on the link, sign up and he got another ref. He also posts this link in every giveaway of his, if he wants to give away games out of the goodness of his heart he should create them here without expecting things back. Some might not even notice they used a ref link to get there.

I am leaving it in the middle that he posts his website in every giveaway of his, the tricking and spamming it further on this forum (which i also believe it hasn't been his first time) i think that is pushing it too far.

I never said it was unnecessary for the giveaways. If the link was unnecessary then the giveaway would be on here or steamcompanion. But the link is necessary for the giveaway... :/

His aim doesn't seem to be for people to use the link. Even if he did. Why does it matter? The person who used the link is at no disadvantage. It simply allows the dev to recieve a few 'coins' that he can spend on games and such. Whether it's for himself or more giveaways, That doesn't matter. Is it really bad for something this harmless? Yes it would bad he if said such as: "You must use this ref link to enter this giveaway" or posted it right on this page. More or less, You're just trying to stir up trouble... When I see you giveaway 1000 keys in one go I'll stop arguing. :)

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

His aim is exactly to use the link seeing how he keeps on promoting and pushing it constantly, we just have to disagree with eachother on it.

Yes it is a bad thing regardless if its ref link is used for entering his giveaways or not because he is tricking people, he did not ask anyone. It does not make it okay because it's "harmless" and it does not really affect those that do use it, it's still tricking.

Also newsflash he already gained 8 refferals and what he spent it most on was steam cards and TF2 refs (most likely all on himself) unless he did give away that too for you people (you are a member after all, of his group)?
He could have just asked a dev (maybe it's his friend) for 1000 copies, it's not that hard or charitable either, it would not be the only group or website that has done such a thing.

And yeah call me silly, but i rather prefer to give away stuff here without any hidden attachments and rather use my space to promote stuff and raise awareness of stuff like in here.
http://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/BXkJJ/sun-blast-star-fighter

Regardless of what you and me think, check the link what i posted of what an admin said about it, it's not okay, final.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

You have no solid proof that, that is indeed his aim.

Again this is not tricking, This website is not for people from steamgifts to really enter but for members of the groups. It's up to the members of the group to use the ref link or not... Also, Maybe he might be changing how the link is worded.

Newsflash, Those 8 referrals may be from his friends, people who want to help out or simply by people who aren't butthurt about helping people... (Maybe you have arrogance about helping people?) Also, steam cards create more opportunities for steam groups due to levelling and the friend limit. Also, He can easily trade these ref and cards for bigger and better games for the group. (Yes I am a member of the group, Problem? I also own another giveaway group, CGiveaways)

Even if he asked a friend for the keys, Is that not still a giveaway? Does that mean that you want your games to be bought? Even if someone's living in the dumps earning a few dollars/pounds/euros per week, you still want the games to be bought? Alright then... :/

That's your preference, To be honest. This mode also removes the steamgifts bots and people who enter just because they want games and don't want to play it...

And finally, the link that you posted has no place here. CG clearly said that if the link is unnecessary then it shouldn't be posted. Is the giveaway link above unnecessary? Nope. Is the ref link inside it unnecessary? Only to people who don't care about people. cough

I couldn't care less of what people think of me either. The real thing to do is if you don't like how something is, don't comment and show everyone you're butthurt about a simple little thing like this. Just report the person and wait until it never gets approved. :)

Cheers,
TrinityBlade

Ps. I bet you still entered the giveaway. :P

I seen how his blog was before without the giveaways and only about the ref, i seen how he advertises it in every giveaway, i seen it posted here on the forum to advertise it, i seen the sneaky way he hides the ref link, that is proof enough for me that it is his aim.

I am gonna comment on it as i please, just to let as much people know as i can, and yes reporting does not always help, so even more a reason to comment about it.

Trust me if you bet like that, don't go into a casino to bet, i have blacklisted him and i don't care if he does the same, nor will i ever enter stuff on his site.

If you say to me i have arrogance about helping people i am even further done with this discussion and you.
Not that i have anything more to add anyway.

So what? I did not even know, but fixed that and left.
Sometimes Steamcompanion requires it. and i am not gonna check each and every group in the past and who it might belong too.
I have something against his blog, not the group (not that anything came out of it i think).
So yeah i can still argue about it, it does not make any of my points less valid.

But this giveaway is not about the ref... :/ It's about people going to the site and entering the giveaway... He is not asking for people to use the ref... :/

He is not asking not to use it, he is not asking anything.
His blog is about the ref, giveaways are an addition (since recently).

Dump some $10 crap (or $0 when it's his own games), and get $100 profit in return (not quoting a real amount, but just an example). That is a business model, not charity.
