but still...
It should be cheaper and the performance is same as the nVidia Titan

Well the titan gpu isnt ment strictly for gaming, it just happens to work well for gaming. NV has already released better g.cards. So that fact that the newest flagship AMD card can beat a titan card isnt very news worthy. Now if it could complete with the titan and cost as much as a 770... then that would be news worthy.

I guess I am, if it's gonna be the thing, Nvidia will have to step up their game with hardware and/or prices. The more they fight, the more benefit we get.

Pointless for me.
AMD graphics cards have horrible drivers under Linux, and this one is about 10x the budget I can allot to a graphics card.

Might be a GPU optimized for SteamOS/Steambox.

Rumor has it that NVidia has taken the step forward for the steam os and AMD told steam to move along.

AMD has an interesting opportunity with Mantle because of their dual console wins, but I doubt Sony and MS will be very helpful," tweeted John Carmack, before adding, "Considering the boost Mantle could give to a Steambox, MS and Sony may wind up being downright hostile to it.

Funny, I heard the same about Intel...

Indeed. Intel told them to move it for the CPU, while AMD apparently jumped at the chance to sell CPUs but cooled off when talk of GPU usage come up. Very odd. You would think AMD would want to sell both of its products :\

Well R9 280X is for 300$ ...that's quite good bearing in mind that it got 6800 benchmark points.
But still, think I'm gonna save up some more for R9 290X :p

Are the memory clock numbers in the pic you linked accurate? Too damn lazy to check. Why is it so much lower than the memory clock on current gen GPUs? The core clock is also lower, but only slightly.

Notice that the other memory clocks have "effective" appended. GDDR5 memory does 4 operations per cycle, so 1250 MHz x 4 = 5000 MHz effective. The bus width is also higher (512 bits vs 384 bits) meaning it can transfer more data simultaneously.

So the theoretical memory bandwidth would be 298 GB/s vs 245 GB/s of the 7970 if Windows calculator is not broken.
