In my opinion every freaking game on steam should have achievments. I bought several steam indie-games only coz they had achievments :D

Anyone else feelin like this?^^

I like achievements, as long as they are actually doable (no, I'm not getting to level 50 in the multiplayer that no longer exists) and fits the game, maybe even teaching you things with the achievements (like Fable 2's kill a rabbit achievement. Taught me how to turn off my weapon's safety mode if I wanted to go on a rampage, and I'd have never thought of shooting a rabbit). Steam doesn't need achievements. They worked great for the Xbox (not so much on the PS3, from what I hear, oddly), and the Gamerscore is a fun little way of bragging as long as you don't take it too far, but Steam doesn't need Gamerscore and it doesn't need achievements in every freaking game (not to mention that would be the dev's problem, not Valve's). If you buy games solely for the achievements, not because they might be good then... frankly, in my opinion, you're kind of an idiot who knows even less than I do about how to spend money wisely.

Well, all games released on Xbox Live have to follow rules. For example, Arcade games have only 12 achievments with a maximum amount of 200 gamerscore. Indiegames on xbox live have NO achievments and the retail games need to have at least a total gamerscore of 1000!

Back when I was playing on xbox360 I cared about achievements, now to be honest I don't even check them. Better for me, really, I enjoy the games way more, as I prefer doing ONE single playthrough, spending a lot of hours and looking for everything, instead of doing the same over and over ( there are exceptions tho )

Maybe it's because in steam achievements are a bit more hidden than in xboxlive, who knows

I have to admit, sometimes when I get a new Xbox 360 game, the first thing I do is to check the achievments before I even started the game. And when I spot things like RUSH THROUGH THE GAME IN 5 HOURS ACHIEVMENT Im like goddammit...now u have the choice, rush or multiple playthroughs..That rly destroys the whole feeling of the game.

I'm planning to complete all Fallout: NV achievements, and discover every single location and NPC in the game.

I tried to get into the whole achievement but I just can't. Doesn't add anything to the game for me.

I'm into Trophies for the PS3 but achievements for Steam...not so much. That doesn't mean that I won't try to complete all achievements for some games but for the most part I'm not into achievement collecting.

Achievements are OK. Its nice to have arbitrary goals or tasks as an extra. If you don't like them, then no need to do them.
