Hi,
I was like asking the winner of one of my giveaways on his profile to be nice and accept the gift, but steam banned me for that ?

Did it happened to anyone before ?

Yes.

I know this doesn't help after the fact but NEVER mention SteamGifts on Steam. Don't comment on winners profiles reminding them about their wins. It's not the creators responsibility to chase after winners for them to kindly accept their price.

(Works best if the game is delivered in form of a Steam Gift but can be done for keys as well)
Send a friend invite and make a screenshot ideally also showing the system time. Post that screenshot on your gib or somewhere else and don't edit it so you have proof you actually sent it and didn't tamper with your system time.

If the winner ignores or declines your friend request when 7 days have passed make another screenshot showing you don't have any pending friend requests and ask for a reroll.

what if winner review your giftlink from HB, or just took the key and after 7 days will mark as not received? Meh

To be honest I've mostly used that method yet when sending SteamGifts because in that case you have to add the winner anyway (I don't do delivery through email because of all the fake emails and people not checking their mail) but it might still help with keys because people are less likely to lie when there is personal contact involved.
This solution was mostly intended to deal with paranoid people who freak out over a friend request thinking it might steal their soul 😅

When sending keys I usually do that via the key delivery system here on SG unless there is something to discuss like delivering a 2nd bonus key or checking if the winner already owns a DLC Steam API doesn't register.

And then it's a classical case of He says, she says. So "Request Received Feedback" and let support deal with it.

But non of my keys from legitimate sources ever turned out dupe (or the winner claimed so). The only time that ever happened was with two keys for the same game from a large shady grey reseller site and in that case I trusted the winners because of the dubious source I got the keys from.

i prefered hb gifts maybe year ago, as the winner can say 'key did not work' while activated on other account...on key u got no proof u send corect, but when u send hb giftlink u got proof with his email

Yeah, that absolutely makes sense. I would do that as well but all that talk recently about Humble locking accounts got me a little worried about using links.

Well that's weird cause there were other requests like mine that were on his profile.
I never included a link to steamfifts but I mentionned "steamgifts" so, maybe it's because of that.

Anyway it's really boring.
Do steam unban accounts in cases like this ?

Will steam unban accounts in cases like this ?

Maybe. There's at least one person saying they got the restriction removed in that other thread. On the other hand OP is still trying to get it solved after ~ 2 weeks.

I reported Steam scam.
On forum PUBG was a lot of SCAM links (log into steam account... and you know rest of story). Steam doesn't acted until I've posted those links in my report. So I did this and they removed scammers threads after this.
But... they banned me for that. Finally I've got two messages for my one post:

  • one "thanks for report"
  • and second "you're banned!"
    ... for same message XD

I been banned for one week. I now adding polish caption to this video. Plese view it after one hour when I end (use youtube translation feature) - so you will be able to read all.

There is one motto after this situation. Now I don't report any scam.

I was also previously banned for one week for fighting with a person which stolen key from the devs...
so I have an experience in this matter. XD

I have simplier solution: If winner is not taking his gift after one week just create ticket to select another winner.

Just wanted to make an update: I was unbanned pretty quick, they tought It was a scam message, but I don't know if it's because of the algorythm or someone reporting me.

Anyway, thanks a lot guys for your posts, it helped me understand better, and now I won't make the same mistake XD

Just never comment on steam profiles ever. It's like commenting in the comment section of a news article.

I trade a lot and used to include link to our barter.vg trades on people's profile, after we completed a trade. This caused a 1 week community ban for me once. Yes, be careful with links!
