Last time I played Saints Row The Third my framerate was horrible if I remember correctly, but now after a year or so it seems like some patches improved the stability of the game. Has this happened to anyone else or is it just me?

Disable post processing, ssao and v-sync. Saints Row 3 has optimisation problems.

I am aware of that fact, disabling those was the first thing I did. Even a year ago it ran like crap without those options on.

I'm gonna go with either you did a driver update which finally had your video card change settings for the game, or they did an update that accomplished the same thing.

Dark Souls has an issue where AMD cards continue to run in standby. I'd hazard a guess your card remained in standby.

Very possible, I have an Nvidia card, not the newest and not the oldest but it's somewhat capable of playing games such as Tomb Raider close to maxed out. I did however switch to beta drivers.

if you have a amd bulldozer cpu you need a bios patch to get proper framerates on several games, including saints row 3

maybe you updated your bios and that helped a lot

Driver update most likely. I never had a problem. SR2 was pretty weird but I never had problems with 3.

I have no problems with Saints Row 3. I run everything on high graphics settings.
So, might be your computer...

I used to have problems but now my framerates are all decent, I can run it on high, but I stick to medium as I don't see that much of a graphical difference if its SSAO etc :P

Choosing DirectX 9 instead of 11 or whatever will make a huge difference.
