Got the things right that the first game got wrong (i.e. combat music appearing before monsters appear, or the damn predictability that they appear right after you advance with solving a puzzle), but it also removed some things that would have been great to leave in, like the sanity meter thing. I didn't mind it removing the limited lightsource, I mean, hello? At the end of Amnesia I had a motherlode of tinderboxes and my lantern never went out fully, ever. Actually, Outlast seems to have a similar problem, a friend completed it with all 10 batteries... I loved how it also predicted monsters and other spooky stuff that were nearby, such as the radio did in Silent Hill. And on top of that, it was a damn liar so you'd not know if something was around even if it didn't flicker.
The game is pretty much a Penumbra one. If you enjoyed those, you'll love this. If you're a complete noob to the series and only played Amnesia, then approach with caution. I'd say go for Outlast, but actually, apples and oranges. Those who give it 1/5; well, drop those tears, they are delicious and you're morons. If anything, the writing is exceptionally great in this one, but that's to be expected from thechineseroom, even if nothing else is. All in all, they did a good job, although it's no masterpiece.
If you want the best horror experience though, go for Slender: The Arrival. Mother of God... I was in a near heart attack-mode throughout the whole thing, and I grew to dislike Slendy and his obese popularity and overusage. Way to go guys... way to go.

I was dissapointed by the game upon starting it, no inventory, many locked doors, cant pick up objects. But the more I played the more the story sucked me in. The atmosphere, the music, the actors! Brilliant. Yeah, yeah after meeting the creatures you are no longor afraid of them, but the fear and disgust are more of a psychological nature later in the game. Also it is really thought provoking, I kept thinking about the game for days, wich is quite rare in my case.
it gets 5/4 from me.

Pre-ordered the game with high expectations based off Prenumbra/Amnesia 1. Sadly, it wasn't what I was expecting. It was still good, but not in par with the other games. Hell, they even took out 90% of the item interaction.
