The Bible Videogame: David Kickstarter

While I'm all for any game that has solid gameplay, polish and forethought (mythology/magic/history blends can turn out cool), this pitch is making me cringe. How many times are they going to hammer at "world's most-moved book"? The way they carry on in parts of the launch video, it seems like they place importance on spreading the bible stories in a digital format first and foremost, and the gameplay may be secondary. That was the downfall of all previous such games.

Shame really, plenty of good myth material it could be using.
Actually having said this, I'd love an "In Nomine" game akin to Shadowrun, albeit with multiplayer and a narrative focus of sorts.

Interesting idea, but the gameplay and story probably won't be that enjoyable as a sidescroller, even though I like sidescrollers.

The bible has a lot of great stories for both movies and video games. The problem is that the only individuals that make the games are either trying to make a quick buck off the religious (that sounds a tad familiar) or they want to overwhelmingly preach to the choir. When someone makes a good bible game that is sincerely enjoyable, I'd play it.

well, the dont even state what genre the game will be.

i really hope they make a good game...would be the first.

however...before i spend a singe buck, i wait for the reviews - as i always do/did for almost all games (except the all the starcraft games)

as a rabid atheist i think this can show how out of this time the bible is(selected BS and incongruent to the "bones"), so yeah bring it

Instead of using the nostalgia of random grown ups they're using religious stuff to get money.

Don't get me wrong, KS has lead to some cool stuff... but mostly it's been bad.

Should have just made it an Oblivion/Skyrim mod, from the vid it seems like they wanted it to be like that anyways(3rd person).

Even the rewards seem like crash grab. I don't think this game will be any better than just average at best... Which in todays market is quite high bar already...

because all those other bible games were GREAT, this one will certainly follow suit.

The idea itself sounds fun. Expected this to be like The You Testament.

I always wished someone would come out with a GOOD Bible game, but none have been made so far. It doesn't look like this one is going to be much different, though I may be wrong. I'll wait and see how it turns out, but I'm not expecting much.

I'll buy it when I can play as Lot and get raped by my own daughters
