My mother spilled tea on my A4Tech G800V and sadly, it died, so I have to buy a new keyboard. I was very happy with G800V, but I'd like to have illumination if possible.
Can you recommend me any inexpensive illuminated keyboard with dedicated volume buttons (not FN like in Razers) and possibility to turn off illumination? Let's say up to 50 USD? Or should I rather stick with another G800V for a while and save for something like Steelseries Apex or Roccat Isku later?

not sure that would be a budget one as that is around 80-100 bucks

but i have been happy with my G105 and it lights up and you can turn it off if not needed and has 2 dim settings

and usually can be had for 30-50 bucks

http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-G105-Gaming-Keyboard-Backlighting/dp/B00BBUCCKO 39.99 with free shipping

it is nothing fancy but does the job,and has a decent warranty

but if you want better you could save more but really it is up to debate if mechanical keyboards are really that much better then non

me i think the only advantage is they can be quieter and have the click with them, but imo i think they offer no real world advantage as being a good gamer is more then having good gear

the choice is yours good luck in your hunt

Razer is the Apple of gaming hardwares.Always has cheaper and better alternatives but ignorant people tend to join the hype and buy them.

Never buy Razer.Never.I tried their headphone for a month, which I borrowed from a friend.Kraken or something like that, it sounded horrible.Playing games with it made me feel like I'm playing with a speaker not with a headphone and listening to music was really REALLY bad with it.

And once I used Naga, it's just a regular mouse with extra macro buttons.Nothing special, same as all Razer products it's just an overexpensive shit.

Anyone here volunteer to defend Razer ? I want a good discussion.

The Deathadder is a pretty good mouse. Not everything they sell is junk.

It's not bad, but not good either. It's just overpriced and expensive as f**k.I prefer a ttesports or logitech mouse over it, for half the price and better performance.

Wut. Their S3998 implementation is great and free of acceleration. The mouse itself is comfortable and not too heavy. It's not overpriced when you consider similar mice on the market also sell for $40-60.

What mouse at half the price has better performance. I'd really like to know.

Well, I used my friend's Copperhead for a while and find my A4Tech XL-730K much better mouse in terms of grip (which is subjective) and comparable in terms of precision (which was proved on hundreds of games we played together).
I bought it for equivalent of $20 at the time when Copperhead was priced at $60.

The DA uses a much better sensor than both. The A4Tech has an old generation laser sensor with non-configurable prediction, very low max tracking speed, and software interpolated DPI steps.

Logitech G105, it has FN but it's pretty easy to use and I love this keyboard overall.

Any non-mechanical gaming keyboard are all the game, only difference is the number of keys and illumination.G105 has 3x6 macro keys and an AWESOME software. I recommend it, I bought it about 40$ but I don't know it's price right now.You should check Amazon, they have awesome deals on Logitech products.

Spend some more money and buy a mechanical keyboard. Just make sure you're getting one with Cherry keys. Cherry browns er overall seen as best keys for people who both game and type a lot.

Thank you for all the replies.
First, I really need volume, mute and pause keys so I can use them with one finger. I listen a lot of music, frequently while afk, so it's a must for me.
Second, I'm not going for mechanical at their current price, until I have some experience with them that justifies the price tag. Besides I'm already annoying my family with a lot of late night writing, and I doubt I can bring the switches noise down to membrane level with orings.
I would be willing to fetch CM Storm just for experience if it cost half of current price. There is Zalmann ZM-K500, but numpad is essential for my work.
I think I'll stick with my backup Logitech Media Elite until weekend, and then go some shophunting, see if I can get my hands on Apex, Isku and some mechanicals. BTW funny how annoying the Logitech is after being used to A4Tech.

Have you tried taking apart your old keyboard and cleaning it?

Yes, I did. If the keyboard wasn't soaking for hours, becasue my mom didn't want to admit the accident, it would probably be fine. I even saved friend's laptop once after being flooded with beer while powered on. Quick reaction is the thing.
Sadly, liquid got into supposedly waterproof membrane. I took membrane apart and rinsed it, but some circuit paths were damaged. I'm currently checking how extensive the damage is and if it's possible to diy-fix the paths, because that way I could wait and buy something better after Christmas if I have enough money left. If not, I guess it's another G800 for me. After all, spare for the lack of backlight, it's a decent and fairly cheap keyboard.

I've had a really good experience with Redragon products. They're chinese products, but the good kind of chinese products, very well designed and confortable. I would recommend the Kagura, it's at half price now in Amazon.

That's a nice price, but no dedicated volume buttons, and - worst problem - after applying shipping cost and time to Europe, the deal is not so good anymore :/

Get a Sidewinder x4. I'm not the guy who likes to give money to Microsoft but that's the best "budget" keyboard you can get (I'v got mine for ~34£). It has macros, multimedia buttons, cool red lights, and the keys are much less noisy than usual non-mechanical keyboards.

Seconding the SideWinder X4, I got mine a couple years ago when my previous gaming keyboard decided to finally start wearing out and I didn't have very much to spend at the time. Feels nice to use, the keys are indeed pretty quiet, and the macros work well.

There was a time when Microsoft made excellent hardware, and even good games. Then they decided earning money with PC equipment wasn't good enough ...

"Cooler Master CM Storm Devastator" is a bundle of decent gaming mouse, and good keyboard with multimedia keys, with backlight(available in blue or red or green). Cost 30-35€, or 30-35$. My friend has it. Well but if you want only keyboard, then buying a separate one for same price is better.

Thank you all again. I went shophunting and that's what I found:
Razer BlackWidow with green switches is loud. Too loud for my taste. I didn't found it too comfortable either. I didn't like Logitech F710 with brown switches either, though by description I expected browns to fit me best.
Sidewinders are no longer sold anywhere in my country as far as I could find.
Logitech G105 is no better button-wise than my twice-cheaper A4Tech G800 was. Same goes for Roccat Isku.
I was unable to find Steelseries Apex nor CoolerMaster Storm anywhere.
One keyboard I fell in love was Steelseries G6v2 with black cherries. It doesn't have multimedia buttons and it's damn expensive, but the feel of those switches is excellent for me, so much that I'm willing to forfeit multimedia keys.
I haven't been able to find any red cherry keyboard, even though they should be most common mechanicals.
Unfortunately, due to some recent events, I'm currently broke and have to wait for the next paycheck at the end of the month. Meanwhile I've been considering cheapest mechanical I found, A4Tech Bloody 540. It's switches are somewhere between red and black cherries from what I read.

I'm not very fond of chicklet keyboards. I didn't have the chance to try this particular one, but with the same price as mechanical Steelseries G6v2 I doubt I'd be convinced to buy Razer.
