Can't believe my luck. I was walking on this very small, boring Easter Market and all of the sudden I was given a chance to try the Oculus Rift and the Samsang Gear for over 15 minutes. What a thrill! The Oculus is very impressive I almost felt twice, it's overwhelming and very intense. Maybe a bit too intense. Then the Samsung Gear, what a very nice toy! Nothing as good as the Oculus in terms of grafic quality etc but a great toy. But in a way better as it is much better to take in. I think the Oculus will give you an headache and a few broken bones very easily. Felt exited for another half an hour, this really was a nice surprise.

Here, have a few.

You'll have to. If you buy this thing there will be no money left to buy games anymore.

My boss brought his Samsung Gear into work last week. I was very impressed. Gameplay was uninspired but moving around was incredible. Had to hold onto the table to keep my RL bearings ;)

:)
I was thinking ,is he serious !? ok maybe he's foreign or something :)

It was about £200 i think ,something like that.
But the newly released one has better lenses and other improvements so probably not a good idea to buy that dev kit.
It will probably be cheaper soon ,seems a bit expensive atmo.

Yes she is foreign but sale is a word I know. I must say £ 200 sounds very reasonable to me. For your own use or to make a profit. Go, go, go run back to this shop!

Very interesting. I'm really curious to try it. Hopefully it's not too convincing, because I don't have the budget to spend on more gaming gear.

How about adding those selfies to eeev's thread? :-)

Haha let's not, this is bad enough but will be gone in a few days. For some reason this gear does not make you look very good.

Lucky! I always wanted to try out the Oculus Rift.
I really hope they put out some games for it that really utilize it... oh, and that the price comes down too :)

Well the guy over there was really exited to test the Vive as he thinks it's going to be the best one. Well have to go back there later this year I presume to check it out!

I don't see 3D movies / images, so all these 3D googles will be most probably pointless for me, as I won't see this amazing 3D experience xD

Lucky you, Annenouk! :D I'd love to try the Rift someday, but even jumping/falling from heights in first-person games with a monitor is enough to get my adrenaline pumping a bit, so I don't know how well I'd handle something like that with a VR headset. :3

Well I have to say it was a bit overwhelming. Almost felt and this was so intense I started to feel it in my whole body. But what a great break from a further very boring day :)

I honestly do not believe in the future of these gimmicks. I would never ever bother sitting in my home and isolating myself to that extent from my surroundings.

I just love gadgets but my wallet does not so I keep it to try this out when I can. Tbh I don't think it isolates you more than playing a game or spending (to much) time on SG. I think these have a great future with a big price drop of course as now it's only available for a select group.
But maybe my heart is speaking now instead of my brains.

What is the main difference between oculus and the gear that makes one seem more realistic? Was it the software, or the device itself. What were you seeing in the goggles?

Well first of all there is a very big difference in grafics quality what makes the Oculus so much more real. This was so existing and overwelming I started to sweat all over something I did not expect to happen as of course a knew I was only looking through glasses. I only had it on for like 5 min and I felt a bit tired and I also felt I was about to get a headeach. On the Oculus I was watching a roller coaster.
On the gear I tried a few games. It's still very realistic as in one of them a had a shock so big big I scramed lol. But every once in a while it loses focus for a second making you realise you are playing. No sweating, no starting headeach but just a lot of fun. It's hard to point out the difference but when I would have the money I would buy the Gear instead of the Oculus.

Looks like it could be great fun! Hopefully the technology will get some traction and we'll see some interesting things done with it. Last time I tried a VR-thing it looked like this

Nice! It'll take a few years before I'm interested in any VRS. Hopefully they will have gone a long way in advancements, then. :)
And a way for people with glasses like me to be able to use it somewhat more comefortably.

I am not upgrading my PC specs for the last three years because I don't want to spend more time with games. But I am really excited about the VR development happening recently, so I am getting both Oculus and Gear as soon as they become stable.

Both?! Have you won the lottery recently? But if you can afford it, well why not. I only think the Gear adds nothing when you got a Oculus.

Nah, I like to spoil myself sometimes and this seems like a good way. I want to experience both personally as I might find Oculus too intense like you did, in that case I will use Gear for chilling and both will have different purposes.

Lucky you, I don't think I would buy one (a little bit over my budget) but I really hope I get to at least try it at one point. I'm very curious to experience it for myself.

Same here. I don't have a spare 800 euro's and another 1000 for a pc upgrade to brake my legs. Maybe the Gear someday. It's only 100 euro's but it requires a high end phone. So maybe in the futere with a new subscription for a mobile who knows.
