So I bought a Windows 10 tablet with the intention to play on it some point & click games that should run on a toaster just to find out that they are not compatible...

For instance, AGS games (Kathy Rain, Resonance, Primordia...) won't even load, as all you get is this error saying that no DirectInput mouse was found. It's quite funny, considering that many of them have Android versions.

I wonder if anyone has been able to properly run them, maybe with a mouse emulator or something.

Another problem that I run into is the inability to access the keyboard in games that require a key to be pressed in order to access the game menu (to save, load or even quit the game). Maybe a touch gesture could make the keyboard to appear?

Any help is appreciated. And keep in mind that the idea is playing these games without any peripherals connected.

UPDATES:
-Logitech Gaming Software bypassed the mouse requirement, since it installs a virtual mouse. Oldest version does the trick and takes less storage space.
-To access in game menu, StrokePlus is great, since you can assign a touch gesture to a key pressing.
-AGS games work quite fine in windowed mode, but not in full screen mode or with a maximized window.

Yeah but if you are running Windows versions it's designed for windows (and a mouse), the android versions are different.

Worse case, you could always try an android emulator and run the android versions.

Have you checked the game configurator, changing the settings?

Maybe that thread can help https://steamcommunity.com/app/227000/discussions/0/541906348046847466/

I can't find any game settings that solves the issue. I bypassed though the no mouse warning, but still the pointer doesn't move according to my finger movements.
Actually I also have Android running on the same tablet, but I won't buy the same games twice (unless they are in Humble Mobile in the 1$ tier)

Start with games from this curator: Touch Friendly Games

I have a Surface Pro 3 running Windows 10 and I have no problem with those games. All Artifex Mundi games work great. So does Civilization V+

Very nice group indeed, thanks!
Although there are not many of the type of games that I intended to play in the beginning.

Really the only criteria for the list is if the game can easily be played with a touch screen, so the list is quite broad. I personally like games like Quell that can be played anytime I have a few minutes to spare. I also like adaptations of board games (Bohnanza, Splendor, Lords of Waterdeep, Carcassonne, and Settlers of Catan - all of which are touch-friendly). You've taken the most important step which is to ask around. 🙂

So far the only thing that worked to bypass the "no mouse" error was Logitech Software, that installs a virtual mouse driver.

Going to try all the above mentioned as soon as I have time :)

While I don't own a touch screen device running Windows, I would like to know the answer just in case I own one in the future, so bump.

I had to restore Windows on the tablet, and could't test more things.
So far I've found a very nice program that allows me to translate touch gestures into key functions, so I can access the escape menu with a gesture for instance. It's called Stokes Plus.
Also, Logitech Software has a virtual mouse driver, that allows to bypass the "no mouse" warning, but unfortunately the games are still not touch-friendly.
