Steam chat lag

i have a strange issue with steam chat(steam client). keystrokes freeze for 0.3-0.5 sec every 0.5-3 sec. this problem started 4-5 days ago. i spent 5 hours today,i tried everything. my pc seems ok in games and i haven't any other problems with typing in other applications. anybody with similar issue or is it only me?

Updated: the source of my problem was my big friendly list(over 500).if i had the friend list window open or minimized i had lag with keystrokes sometimes.it seems like a bug from steam client because in the past i didn't have any issues with my friendlist.

Remove and install Steam again?

Are you using the Steam beta client? If so, sometimes opting-out until the issue(s) is fixed works. Also, I've mainly only had problems with the beta version on Mac, so it might be a long shot.

i had the problem with normal and beta client.anyway i managed to find what causing these issues as you can see in my original post.
