It's kinda sad to see that Humble makes a "Black developer fund" and excludes every "black" which is not of African origin not mentioning the fact that we are all of African origin ;)

And why no Latino developer fund or Native American developer fund or ... I think you get it ;)

The video game industry will eventually collapse. It's on the same course as the comic industry and Hollywood. Comic industry was one of the first pop culture industries to get infiltrated and it's now going bankrupt.

Bias left.
Bias right.
It is good that there are various opinions.

There seems to be no free and correct opinion in an environment that does not allow freedom of expression.
it would be out of the question when trying to solve the different opinions by violence.(Violent demonstration activities.)
Be neutral with respect to either method of expression. I think Steam/Valve is good.

Honestly, I prefer a company to stay out of it. Unless what you sell has anything to do with what's taking place, shut up. I don't care what a handful of lawyers and executives want to say in some canned message on a complex issue, because they only release the laziest buzz words and jargon. They're quoting a script, showing they have nothing to contribute, it's only a way to virtue signal. If you're really so benevolent, donate the money without saying a word, because the cause should be so much more important than getting some sort of credit for "doing the right thing."

Isn't it ironic though? In a thread where so many people are triggered by the fact some tiny indie devs dare exercize their right not to sell on Steam?

I always found it hypocritical that so many people who use the term SJW do so when misrepresenting dissenting views. The original usage of 'SJW' when turned into a negative, was because they were overly combative, seldom tried civil discourse, and seemed to enjoy mob tactics and fighting far more than the amount they actually cared for the given subject. Yet now it slipped further and lost all real context, the people who use SJW like a buzzword tend to be rallying against something they find offensive, and have no interest in discourse, only pinning up strawmen and launching into tirades.

It's like a weird little petri-dish sample of the horseshoe theory in action. The rabid 'anti-SJWs' being a mirror image of what they want to combat, and visa versa.

I thought about that as well. I guess that's the danger in reducing any group of people to acronyms. Soon, it becomes an umbrella term for basically anything and it's used to insult more than anything. I personally don't feel threatened or offended when someone throws it at me for challenging their preconceived notions of the world. Just amused. But I know some people who react like being called a "snowflake" or SJW is the ultimate insult and it also amuses me. Call me whatever, that won't distract me from my opinion and launch into a rage contest.

If that would be the case there would be already hundreds of posts here since there are already tons of games that don't released on steam.

As the true gospel of black metal teaches us: no lives matter at all

Humanity is like bacteria destroying its habitat for no reason and being harmful to every other form of life on Earth.

This is nothing worth saving unless otherwise proven and this is not done by multiplying until all forests are burned to fields.

I agree with you and also don't get why people keep trying to coerce other people to take their side.
I am for BLM but not sure why people are so divisive nowadays, it is like if you do not pick a side immediately you are condemned from both sides and if you choose one, you are attacked from the other.
I feel we should give people time and space to process their own thoughts and make their own decisions, let them be grey instead of black or white.

All these behaviors recently makes me feel like movements are getting more extreme, and although it is not there yet (for BLM , but are sort of there for vegan extremist), I keep getting vibes of these movements moving towards more alike ISIS where people are only allowed to followed one ideology, and not allowed to think otherwise, and anyone who does not do what they want is their enemy.

Edit: Not saying that what the indie developers did is wrong though, they are allowed to do what they want to bring attention to the movement. Just that I am happy Valve is not bending over to the pressure, because imagine if you do this for BLM, but not do this for global warming, LGBTQ, hungry children in africa, re-education camps in china, income inequality and other more pressing issues; It just feels more like virtue signalling, where people just follow and take advantage of what is trending to feel good.

+1, I hate it when companies throw money at charities rather than dropping their prices, which would allow customers to keep more money that they can then donate themselves to the charities they like.

(HB is kind of an exception to this, as most of the time they let people chose the charity - even though the choices are limited to mostly English-speaking country charities)

Funny how not giving to BLM is racist but contributing to a "Black Game Developer Fund", ie a fund that discriminates based on race, isn't.

I mean, imagine the outrage if someone were to create a "White Game Developer Fund"... At the very least, they'd get a pretty critical press coverage

it the developers think they are doing something good have at it I guess.. Ultimately none of the games getting removed were any good anyway so is anything really lost?

Would it be nice if valve said something, I guess, but what's the point of more empty messages just done to garner up PR.. If you honestly believe most of these companies coming out with the messages of support actually care about any of the stuff you're wrong, it's all about free PR..

Even the ones donating millions of dollars.. they are just doing it for the positive rub they'll get from being behind the movement..
