Maybe it's a bug. In that if you have two different records (instances) of a game on your steam account, then you can get cards. Maybe this is how steam blocked the cards with family sharing.
For example, steam would have a system that sees a bought game as 2 instances of the game, whereas family sharing and free weekends are both 1 instance each. So maybe they combined to trick the Steam system. Very simple example, but it's possible.

So, as most of you know, it's the Skullgirls free weekend right now, but I actually had the game before it through family sharing. So anyways, I just launched the game, played a bit and quit only to find a card in my inventory. Family sharing doesn't give you cards, at least, not that I know of. Free weekends don't usually either. So, what the heck? Did this happen to anyone else?
