So the situation I agree could have been avoided with Groupees inquiring further demanding proof from IndieKings that they owned the rights to the game or at least to distribute it for the bundle, but IndieKings is somewhat at fault for trying to exploit the system and profit off a free game that they DIDN'T EVEN CREATE!!

Farmergnome is a friend of mine, when I received the e-mail from Groupees stating they are calling for content for their community bundle: https://i.imgur.com/C2ghoI0.png I thought it would be a cool idea to submit my indie game dev friend's game so HE could profit from it, not me... as you can see from the image it states "exposure, PROFITS, support charity"

As you can see in the initial e-mail, I stated that it wasn't my game but a friends, and confirmed that it is a free game in the second
I was irresponsible for not telling the dev about it, as evidence from his tweet he is not interested in bundling his game
It's one of those situations where you're trying to do a good thing but fuck everything up.
So a few major things to clear up:
- NO I did not pretend the game was mine
- NO I was not trying to "exploit the system"
- NO I was not trying to profit off of a free game that I did not create

Well, if true.. I don't think all of the blame should be put on you.. but in all honestly I think it was a bad idea to email them about farmergnome's game. You would have been better off asking the dev to contact groupees. Doing it this way is very shady and weird. I also think trying to put a freeware game in a bundle is in poor taste.
Groupees was dumb for not understanding what you were requesting, so they were just as bad.. How the hell did the game get into the bundle though, shouldn't there have been a contract or something? Something isn't adding up here
EDIT: Oh, and I didn't notice at first.. but you didn't clarify that the game was free. You said it was DRM-Free, not free lol.

Groupees and myself are both taking responsibility for the situation for our own respective mistakes.

As you can see in the first e-mail I linked to https://farmergnome.itch.io/surf-shogun it's clearly free to download, if that's not clear enough I don't know what is... they asked me if it's PC only and DRM-Free direct download which they were obviously wanting me to clarify that it was free and I did.

Just to clarify, HNIC did indeed email me today with conversation logs and he is telling the truth, he wasn't trying to profiteer off my free games. He was attempting (though however misguided) to get Surf Shogun exposure, but from my perspective seeing my game appear in some random paid bundle with no email or anything, that I didn't submit to, and someone was making money on, was enough for me to ask WTF? So its all good, just send me an email and ask or something next time.

Groupees has some organisational issues in that regard, I believe the person who originally bundled the game is initially expected to hunt down the keys after release, and if that person is AWOL, yeah, nothing happens.
Then people yell at Cyanic until Cyanic goes and fixes it. Typically.
