What is best on a long term?
Honestly if you can I would try to go one step further and get a 1060 on the laptop, it would make quite a big difference. In terms of RAM, if you found a 1060 and 8gb ram in the same price range as the 1050ti and the 16gb than I personally think the 1060 would be the better choice.

I looked it up and for my price range I can't find a single 1060. The ones I find with a 1060 8gb and 8 ram are like 250β¬ more expensive than what I can afford right now. Will try to wait for Christmas to see if any of these pops up

Ohh I was at this point as well. Not going to tell you the long journey. Well it has a nice laptop with everything I wanted for a relatively low price at the end.
You didn't say anything about it - you might have already chosen right but still I want to say it. When you buy a new one don't go below 17"
Higher screen size will be more valuable to your eyes than some fps.

Found one above 17" that on Christmas is going to be on my price range (hopefully) that has a 1050 with 32gb of ram exp total but still have to ponder whether I go for the graphics card or the ram. By the results of the poll so far I think I will go for the graphics card or hold a little bit longer for one with a ti and 32gb exp total

1060 is miles above what a 1050ti can even dream of achieving. 32gb ram is also really overkill, and the 1050 will never allow the pc (games) to use all that ram.

It really depends on what your target goal is. 32 GB can help out a fair bit if you're going to run lots of stuff and not basically just games (such as many browser tabs). If you'll be running just the games and your major concern is fps and lag in real-time games, the better card will help out more. If both are a concern, perhaps wait a little more and get both. Conversely, if neither is a concern, spending less is an option, too. ;)

32gb is excessive for gaming, 16gb will be plenty for any game out atm.
Also keep in mind a regular 1050 only has 2GB VRAM, while a 1050ti has 4GB VRAM.
Go with the better video card.

I would not get anything below a 1060 or equivalent if possible if you're wanting to play games, and you definitely want at least 4GB VRAM(preferably 8) on a new graphics card, anything less is not worth buying. While 32GB ram would be nice, a 16 is good enough on a budget.

I am eying the lenovo legion Y530 myself with the nvidea GTX 1060, but it is not yet released in my country.
Looking for a decent travel laptop myself too and this one has my fancy.
I would deffo go for a 1060 card, would like to get better/higher myself but that is just too expensive.
If at any point in the near future you want to go for a VR set then the 1060 is the minimum it can run on a1050 ti does NOT support VR!

At first I had my eye on a Lenovo legion too but after everyone's opinion the one I saw just doesn't fit anymore

What are you eying now?
I still haven't made a definite decission, so this has my interest! :-)
This, btw, is the one I am eying: https://www.coolblue.nl/product/815588/lenovo-legion-y530-15ich-81lb001fmh.html#product_specifications
It hasn't been released here yet.
So maybe you were looking at a different model with lower specs?

I've decided to go with this one. https://www.msi.com/Laptop/GL72VR-7RFX/Specification

That one certainly has nice specs, congrats on your choice!
It looks a bit too flashy too my taste and I am not too big a fan of MSI, but that's just personal.
I hope I can afford the lenovo with the GTX 1060 card once it is released!
Hope we both enjoy our new laptops pretty soon!

If it gets the job done for me it could be a yellow laptop xD. The Lenovos are good but after I looked up 2 days for a laptop this MSI was the best I could find for that price.

LOL, I hear you!
The specs are more important than the looks!

Now after taking in your opinions I decided to extend a little my price range and spend max 1250β¬

Hello everyone!
I'm looking to buy a new laptop mainly for gaming on holidays and I can't decide between 2 laptops.
They both have the same processor and ram and screen but one has a gtx 1050 with total ram of 32 gb of expansibility and the other has a gtx 1050 ti with total ram of 16 gb.
After looking up some videos online I noticed that the 1050 ti gets in average 10 more fps than the 1050 which is good and about ram 16gb or 32gb of ram don't make that much of a difference regarding fps.
As we can't upgrade a graphics card on a laptop like we can do with ram I want to know your opinion, if this is confusing or it isn't explained properly feel free to say so.
PS: I am going with a I7-7700 HQ 2,8 Ghz,16 GB Ram , SSD+HDD, Intel HD Graphics 630 and a GTX 1060 6GB. Finally chose one xD Thanks for your help.
