Well, I only played the first Guild Wars, and if the second is anything like it, sure it should be worth it. Besides, at the moment, anything is better than SimCity.
If you are really in to MMO's, then get the refund, if not, stick with SimCity and wait for a fix.

I bought it about a month after the release. I'm still playing it and must say I enjoy every little bit of it. It is different from any other MMO I have played so don't expect another WoW clone.
This guy pretty much sums my opinion: clicky

Guild Wars 2 is in some ways an improved WoW clone, and in other ways it's an almost stark departure but I feel that it's better in those ways that it differs from WoW. The economy is great, partially because it's global rather than server/faction based, and partially because you can buy/sell from anywhere. If your bags are full & you picked up a bunch of gear you have no interest in using or salvaging, sell it or salvage it and sell the salvaged crafting materials! It also does a much better job of providing a sense of unique history and culture for each race. What may or may not bother you is that it doesn't have the hard trinity most MMOs do (tank/healer/DPS). Everyone can heal themselves and no one can stand in front of a mob and tank it forever, though you can still specialize a character to focus more on support, or being tanky, or doing damage.

I'd say the best thing about GW2 is that you can really stick with the parts of the game that you enjoy and ignore what you don't. For example you can level a character by exploring or crafting, or you can instantly become 80 by going to the structured PvP zone and forget about leveling altogether. You also get to make choices in your personal story, which of course makes the story much more personalized (though you don't get nearly as many dialogue options as SWtOR sadly).

Check out a recent review by Athene to get a different perspective on it. Basically he really likes it but it took time to adjust to it because it's different from WoW.

Sell your loved ones on the street. If they truly love you, they'll be willing to do this for your future GW2 happiness.

Regardless of whether you're planning to get GW2, grab that refund on Sim City before it's too late!

I will say it's a waste of money.

gw2 is a mmo that has no ingame party search tool. you need to use a 3th party site if u need to find a party to do dungeons/fractals (and that 3th party site has several problems due to the fact that it has no access to game, and i doubt they will try to implement something like that because the account(s) used for that will end up banned for botting).

they said they will not add new item tier and 3 months later surprise new item tier. (what they said about improved stats that will be needed for fractals was a big lie, the only thing needed was agony resistance and that because they had no imagination and they implemented a stupid type of damage; the reality is that they actually wanted to sell more revive orbs from their shop; also there was no need for new item tier they could easily made some items in your inventory (not on you) give agony resistance as long as you carry them just to present an alternative, there are other alternatives without increasing the stats and without the need for agony resistance because agony damage didn't supposed to be implemented in gw2 because it's just stupid (just implement some better ai it's not that hard) ). agony is a nice name to hide the fact that it's true % hp damage or flat damage (if % hp damage is under a particular value, this was implemented to prevent a low hp healer survive in higher levels dispate the fact that the required agony resistance was no implemented in the game) wonder what makes gw2 different from another mmo that add every 6-9 months a new item tier; probably the fact that they did it fast here lol...

no tests for regresions, they fixed some bugs and 2 weeks later the bugs were back in the worst posible form.

boring pvp with few options (wvw = larger zerg win, spvp = tankier team wins)

if you have friends on na and eu worlds there is no posible way to play with all of them, guest system is a total fail (if your home world is a eu one u can guest only on eu worlds same with na worlds something that is mostly useless because anyway you can do dungeons/fractals with people from other worlds as long their world is on same datacenter as yours (1 datacenter for eu, 1 for na)) (they were way to lazy to make both datacenter syncronize when u were guesting on na when your homeworld was an eu one, exactly lazy because it's extremely simple to do it and the data exchange was extremely small). I for once have half friends on eu and half on na, imposible for me to play with half of them no matter what i do... they didn't learned a single thing from the same mistake they did in gw1...

L.E.: no real optimization done for this game, it's extremely cpu bound and won't be a surprise to have in some situations stupid low fps with top hardware (entire problems comes from the stupid idea of using dx9 to mantain support for xp when in fact pcs that don't work well with vista/win7/win8 won't be able to run decent gw2, and trust me their minimum system req is a bad joke you don't even have 30 fps with that configuration in places where nothing happens...)

L.E. 2: joke skill balance, but when they have 2 people (you read right 2 people) that are doing skill balance you won't see much

My only regret is that after gw2 release, gw1 almost died, funny cause gw1 is a considerable better game...

L.E. 3: I also wonder how much money did they payed to get that mmo of the year title...

L.E. 4: graphic bugs they don't care : https://forum-en.guildwars2.com/forum/support/tech/strange-lines-on-floors/first
funny how they say it's a hd 7xxx issue when in fact there are nvidia cards affected by same problem...

L.E. 5: if you write something true about their game in their forum, provide proofs but they don't like what you wrote you will receive a warning and they will remove what you wrote (probably they don't like constructive criticism ,as if they are some sort of gods that know everything) (for example i got a warning for offtopic when i was talking about ascended items in a topic about ascended stuff... how can i be offtopic when i talk about something that is even in the title of that topic?!? they never answered to my question "what was offtopic in my post"?) Feel free to explain why I receive this warning for offtopic: pic link with the reason i was warned there on gw2 official forum... So far noone was able to explain why, not even gw2 support that never answered to my ticket regarding this matter.

If you can handle the insane lag for most popular events, it's worth it >_<

Its pretty good, tho they should add/change end-game content, its a little 'dull'...and when you get to lvl 50 it because a tad repetitive, tho if you play with a friend its good. Tho gotta fix the end content.

I bought GW2 on release, and I was a bit disapointed. I just don't like the feel of the gameplay. It is a bit boring and confusing. and they made the menues and options confusing and anoying. But it still happens that I log in and play some hours. Since its no monthly subscription, I dont feel like I have wasted my money.

But if I had tried it before I bought it, I wouldent have bought it.

I pre-ordered GW2 and still play it almost every day, so in my opinion it's worth it.

A lot of people I've talked to don't like it though, so you might want to see if you can try it on a friend's account or something.
