Then when you complete the game and get bored of it,it just sits there doing nothing on your console while on pc you can get mods that add new content. Take skyrim for example - sure there are a ton of mods that are just reskins or simple new objects but they add to the game and can fix and enhance what the developers didn't(one of the top files today on nexus is a pillow reskin). Then there are mods that add whole questlines and huge locations, that overhaul the whole systems the game uses from the basics(even how hp/stamina work),or that add packs of spells or items to the game, and the occasional 'added functionality' like allowing you to be a ship captain or make your own farm and stuff like that.
I prefer splitting them into two types - those which fix or improve functionality, such as menu overhaul so it's more usable or more information about items, fix bugs, etc. I install those right away and get a better experience out of my first run; Then after I'm done I can just go wild and install whatever I want.

Mods create totally different games.
Mods are Team Fortress, Counterstrike, Day of Defeat, Portal, Natural Selection(2), Killing Floor, Payday, Chivalry...
Some mods that OP plays just by spying on his profile for a glance... DayZ, CS:GO, Just cause 2: Multiplayer...
And he says he doesn't like mods.

I do, but I have important reasons to rank consoles over PC. Certain reasons make different choices better depending on the user. Me, I have datacaps and a poor hand that require gamepad support in games (unless I can play with a single hand). Consoles have more physical games released at this point and gamepad support is standard.

Also - used games, incredibly cheap for their output, and best of all, fanboys make the internet so much more fun.

I do... Well, maybe not "hate" but I do prefer playing games in their "original" state most of the time, only very specific situations/mods could get a pass for me and at this moment I can't remember a single one to be honest, but I imagine that could happen someday, like for example I've seen some quite interesting Skyrim mods, I don't own Skyrim but if I get the game at some point (it's almost certain that I will) maybe I'd like to try some of those mods, who knows? But getting back to your original question, at this moment I don't really care about mods and I've never cared.

If a game requires mods to be fun, then it isn't that good.
A game like Oblivion or Fallout doesn't require them IMO. I played both Fallout games and Oblivion on 360 after the majority of bugs were patched. I had fun, and had too much content to care about a lack of mods to add a bit more.

I always use vanilla.
I tried various skins for gta vice city. But i didn't like that either.

Vanilla can be better than playing with mods and some mods can be better than just vanilla, depends on the game and the mods... To say it will "always" be, when u have not tried all possible games with all possible mods, is an argument from incredulity.

Hah! So you're basicly saying that bugged vanilla is better than installing a mod to fix these bugs? I'm sorry, but that's just stupid. You are right, plenty mods are just skins and stupid stuff. But there are countless mods that change (and bugfix) the entire game, like FreeSpace SCP, Armada 3, Fleet Operations, DSFix, RenegadeX, SweetFX, Republic at War, Gentlemen of the Row, icHancer, the list goes on and on and on.
Countless mods are there to enable us to run old or broken games effortlessly.
Most worthwhile mods offer considerable profit at no cost, and often installation is as easy as extracting an archive to game's root folder.

i only get the mod after seeing what the game is like, but hate is a strong word

Have you played Fallout 3? Dragon Age: Origins? Skyrim? There're dozens of mods that I can't even imagine playing without. Wasn't there a guy who made a whole different world for Skyrim? Or the mod that merges the worlds of Skyrim+Morrowind+Oblivion?
There're sooo many great mods around... Fallout 3 is unplayable for me without mods.
Graphic mods? There's a lot of those that actually improve you PC's performance while ingame.
I usually spend hours before even starting the game up, searching for mods and improving my upcoming gaming experience.
There're many great mods and yeah even more trashy ones, but nobody forces you to download every single mod out there. It's not the main reason I prefer PC over consoles, but still mods are great.

I prefer to play the original game the way intended by the devs. I played 156 hours of Skyrim without mods and enjoyed every moment of it. And now I don't feel the need to play more of it. I'd rather play a different game. The only mods I use is the bug fixing ones that doesn't change anything else.
I do find some mods very amazing, interesting and well made though.

Minerva: The mod that landed the modder a job at Valve.
It's quite good and is a fully separate library entry, worth checking out as long as you have HL2: Ep1. It's free and it's better than 95% of the bundle junk we buy all the time :P

Typical reasoning of a filthy console peasant: "I can't have mods, so mods are bad". Meanwhile, we, the PC Gaming Master Race, install mods to enhance graphics, get rid of game breaking bugs, add more content, or convert the game into something completely different. Praise the Lords of the Gaming Community, who create the glorious mods for us!

When people praise PC gaming they usually mention mods like it makes the game superior to console version. Some mods are good but in my opinion most of them are gimmicky trash, like skin mods or so. Graphics mods are cool but they ruin the game's vibe and require a high end PC. Say whatever you want but vanilla will always be the best for me. When GTAV comes out I won't install a single mod until I fully complete the game and get bored of it.
EDIT: Okay I don't HATE mods but I had a more specific type of mods(mainly for open world games) in mind when I made this thread but there are some great mods out there.
