:D
one of those threads that quickly goes to third/fourth discussions page. basically steamgifters use the steam "tag" function, categorizing games, seeing friends tagging activity, and, finally picking a few good tagged games... to giveaway, maybe?
also, i like critics.
happy 4th!

Or use ESGST's Comment Formatting Helper which does this for you ;)

Steam acts like a (spoiled little) 8bit micro brat when it comes to the games/recommendations/etc pages. Either it just goes completely dumb when "recommending" games or (probably more plausible) they just shoot whatever game they want to push-up, in your face.. I've seen so many recommened games totally irrelevant to the ones I play (queueueueue etc) and also completely irrelevant "relevant to this" games, that I really have to wonder "WHO" decides what games are relevant to others.
Basically..it's a mess and I don't use it.
There you have it..

We're quite happy this comment has found a good home.. Cheers!
You could potentially take it as a small gratitude for that odd ШП - ShP game DLC that I got from you. Although you don't have to as it wasn't meant for that purpose ;)

This. Steam recommendations are basically "buy this because we want you to buy it, and fuck you if you don't care about it".
There are tons of actually functional recommendation algorithms, and Steam manages to not use any of them. Surely it can't be an accident.

functional recommendation algorithms
the youtube one always fascinated me. is that actually functional?
Surely it can't be an accident
so sad. the more i browse steam store, the more i see microsoft. still, i see no "googles ready for a war"... not yet :D
thanks for sharing!

About YT, the related video algorithm is pretty nice; it does some weird stuff every now and then, but by and large it's pretty good. On the other hand, I hardly ever look at the front page, so I can't say anything about that.
As for Google, I think I actually prefer them to not own yet another part of the internet. :D

the more you tell youtube about yourself, the more you get. google style :D
its algorithm is even better than google one, sometimes. boy has a ginormous brain...
Google owning something?! ...btw, can't see google+games as a good match. but i'm already eager for a googlishthinghere+games ;-)

Recommended for me: RPG.
Games in the category: Dota 2, Stardew Valley, Assassin's Creed Origins, Slay the Spire.
Another nice example on how tags on Steam are useless, since people tag games so horrendously, you will never get an actual clear picture on a game from them. None of the above are RPGs, at least not more than Quake 1 or Pac-Man is.
I also love when the recommended tags show me game that I already own, finished, and even reviewed. Yes, Steam, I kinda know they are good for me from the fact I played them on you already. :P

Dota & Stardew: this is so creative :D
was thinking that, maybe, steam doesn't have a clear concept of tag. are "indie" or "RPG"... tags? if you make another click, they suddenly becomes genres.
also: if steam tags are so bad, but gives us the chance to create them, maybe something (good) could be done... that's the reason why i dumbly titled this "tag a game"
have fun, talgaby, and thanks for sharing!

people tag games so horrendously
For fun, just to see what I'd find, I browsed the most abused tag by far in my experience: anime. Among other gems, I found World of Warships. I pondered and decided that there must be something about Kantai Collection in the game, maybe? All those boatgirls (yes, boatgirls) must be having an effect on Steam, I guess. So I kept looking. And then I spotted Saints Row IV.
Sense. It made none.

I never use tags and my playing behaviour is chaotic, so usually Steam recommends me a lot of trash. :)

if I search something with a tag, I use this:
https://www.lorenzostanco.com/lab/steam/store/
also great to search, for games in your own library, if you have a big one.

so, you get mouse-only clicking this?
https://www.lorenzostanco.com/lab/steam/store/_/rJe9jFizm
i mean, is rJe9jFizm = mouse-only
?
edit: lol, you get my results :D so that's only a short url...

Yes that seems to work, I can mark games that I already have from your mouse-only list and so on.
Edit: I mainly use the library search side of it https://www.lorenzostanco.com/lab/steam/u/Starwhite

Wow, how in the earth you managed to give so many games? You're very kind! Whitelisted, even if I don't think that'll make a big difference to you, but I think you earned it! :D Inoltre, Caio, di dove sei?

in search for something weirdo? this should be one of the SGsupermarkets you should visit. a place, just another piazza milano, with a little niche market, just there, on the left. (or, in other words, something will soon be reboot'd).
i'll add your weirdos if shared.
“Lots there for fans of VHS flickering and garish colours. It’s inspired by Twin Peaks, Zelda and Monkey Island, says Madrid-based creator Jacob Jazz, which is an odd soup to bring to the boil. There’s a flavour of Undertale and Space Funeral to it as well, of course, but I don’t know if that’s the developer’s intention. It also features “psychedelic Russian surf music” and the turn-based combat includes the option to “Spit”, so that’s a plus.”
