Hello Steamgifters!

I hope you are all well.

If I could have your attention for a couple minutes. I would be grateful.

Over the past few years of emailing and chatting to youtubers, I made many friends, like we all do online. Today, I was shocked to see one of them banned, having spent years creating content, with over 1500 videos.

What did he do?
He covers all genres of games and some of the "adult" content violated the community guidelines it seems. Understanding YouTube is a platform for all users, he takes care to ensure content is kept appropriate.

For example, he played my adult game. But at no point could you see any nudity. Showing actual game-play. Now many users upload adult game content to YouTube, but ensure content is kept appropriate.

A "Community Guideline" violation, which was the case here has resulted in his account termination and having everything you have created taken away from you without any warning, can be heart breaking, especially seems he had no chance to remove the content violations.

If you can send some support his way, I would appreciate it-

@everyone https://twitter.com/DjBatprince/status/1352394312613470208 I know this is not the right place for this but I also know it's the best place to raise awareness. Batprince, our dear friend, had his youtube account shut down with out warnings or strikes. They just shut him down! This is not ok! Please read the tweet I have linked here and reshear it and also @TeamYoutube and please get others to help! He does not even know why they did this. They have been unhelpful so we need your voice! retween and @TeamYoutube

"I've been posting random games every single day for years. Some have been sexual in nature, but I've used youtubes blur function to censor it. I'll gladly remove all sexual games and never cover another again if I can get my channel back"

And that is a problem. If they can remove a whole channel if they have anything sexual, which youtuber would dare to talk about ANY sexual game?

Indeed, I rarely comment on anything or make any posts like this. But knowing Batprince, how much time and dedication he puts into producing content, this account removal, seems very harsh, considering he spends time to keep things appropriate and the sheer volume of content he has produced.

I mean, okay, so they have decided this content is not allowed. Should a YouTuber, not be given a chance to remove said content? :/ It is not like he is just uploading inappropriate content. He really cares about his YouTube channel.

That's what I don't get. Did he not at least get a warning to remove the content before he was just banned? That's ridiculous.

Haha it's good to have you back, man. I haven't had a good debate about freedom of expression in a while :P

In all seriousness though, I totally agree. And if Youtube wants no sexual content on their site, it's their right but then hmm... shouldn't all the videos literally showing how to use sex toys also be banned? How about all the explicit rap videos?
If it's only targeting gamers, why the special treatment?

Thanks for your words. Yes, I have to admit, I'm kind of passionate about free speech.
I have my own opinions, of course, and I have disagree with everything you say. But I will defend to the death your right to say it, as Voltaire said.

That's the only way you can know you're free to say your piece as well.
I just get unreasonably mad at people who abuse it, for that reason I think.

If he moves to bitchute I think he will need to start focusing on far-right conspiracy theories, I don't think they allow anything else.

That's really sad. Unfortunately I didn't get to watch his videos, but what YouTube did is completely unacceptable. There are music videos that show way more explicit sexual content and YT doesn't do anything about them. But when it comes to small creators, they seem to suddenly remember the community guidelines. I would understand if they gave him a strike on his content and he ignored it, but the fact that they didn't warn him or anything is just right wrong. I hope he doesn't give up trying to get his channel back.

They say the music is allowed because it is "art". That is what made belle delphine still have her music video up (it was taken down and after some comments and complaints, it came back). But aren't videogames "art" as well?

They also say it's ok if it's educational or informative. How are those videos not informative? I see them and I know I won't play that game... that's information :P
Seriously though, I think there are double standards when it comes to content creators and gaming videos always seem to be targeted for some reason.

I don't know if it's gonna be of any help but I did made a retweet.

Is there a way to speak with youtube? Your friend

Apart from that if youtube doesn't agree to re-open the channel all he can do is a new one I think or change platform.. Depending on what kind of videos he prefers to make of course.

But without a warning? usually youtube removes just 1 video (the video it deems "bad"). Closing a channel over 1 video out of the blue is rare to say the least..

Thank you!

It seems the "appeals" are just met with an automatic reply, with no response regarding the actual message he sends.

That is the reason I made a post, he did not have chance to "correct" the violation. It is possible they decided multiple videos violated their guidelines at the same time. He had over 1500 videos after all. Not much information on this at the moment.

Youtube does what youtube wants unfortunately.. And with COVID all scream covid and do pretty much nothing..
I would suggest that he could try raising some attention to this and send this as well to youtube for an unban. My guess is he would prefer to have his own channel reopen so the views can show along with the videos and the years.. Apart from "show" it must be sentimental too..
If an agent actually appears he should be let with a warning for the future but youtube needs better guidelines.. It can be anything.. Even music rights. They specified it was for NSFW content? But without nudity it can be yet another problem to their algorithm..
I do wish him good luck though on finding actual support and not auto replies and for a re-open! Keep as in the loop if you can. Youtube has done a goof for yet another time :/

Indeed, having to start from scratch after years, just... not ideal.

They have not specified anything exactly. Their responses have been limited. But batprince believes this is the guideline problem they speak of, as you can see from the twitter posts to YouTube, along with YouTube responses. Not very helpful in my opinion.

don't forget almost naked twitch streams on youtube later :D ..................

Unfortunately they are the biggest platform.. And they are counting on "simple people" not being able to do much to a "giant". At the end of the day they can always say my sites my rules.. :/ I think we could use some competition..

Note to any content creator who's concerned about this: check out Odysee.com. You can sync your YouTube library with Odysee, and at the very least, you'll have your video backed up on Odysee.

YouTube cares only about one thing and that is money.
Music industry easily shows how they dont care about nudity at all

I mean look at this atrocious shit - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LDZX4ooRsWs
It's good only as long as a company can pay them. Anyone else can go and fucktemselves.

At this point you either choose another medium to share your content or live with youtubes bullshit. I mean money rules the world and anyone who says otherwise needs some reality check fast.

It's self-expression of those oppressed women to show them they can do anything.

Sarcasm aside - it's borderline prostitution and they sell their bodies to earn more money. Which is somehow fine because all the corporations get big fat checks as well.
Nakedness and even sex CAN be art to be honest. It's definitely how we perceive it and we might not be "perceiving" video in example as others do, but I still think it's far from art. And if it is art then it is vulgar, offensive and tasteless.

Well this is kinda strange to be banned that way, especially when you see youtubers like horheristo that plays with the censorship and only plays sexual games, speedruning them sometimes. (he stopped doing only that now, but it's still one of his core content)
There must be something else, like copyright infrigement claim maybe ? These are harsh.

Copyright on a video would only give 1 strike I believe, if that was the case. It could be they found multiple "guideline violations" at the same time, instantly giving 3 strikes maybe.

YouTube responding and at least giving more information on their decision to immediately ban would be helpful.

Another thing I dislike, it's how they don't even bother to inform youtubers on WHY they are being getting strikes or delisted

https://archive.md/HRkv2

I understand that, as long as reasons are given, it's their platform. But considering how huge they are, they should at least make those "community guidelines" clear enough.

DEFINITELY NOT glad this youtuber is never going to review adult games again after this scare.

And worried how easily Youtube can destroy a whole channel with a flick of a finger
