The uPlay store is weird. They're selling Battlefield 4 but there's no mention of it requiring Origin anywhere, not even during checkout.

steam store says the 20th but it's still an hour and a half or so away. (From what I've seen steam generally does releases and refreshes it's daily specials and the like at 10am PST so there's a chance that uPlay does something similar.)

got a reply from uPlay support:

For users who have pre-ordered the game either via a purchase or promotional code will have their game delivered via the Uplay PC client early this afternoon.

After the game is fully installed, you will want to download the first patch. When you attempt to launch the game, the autopatcher will open. Cancel this operation.

You need to manually download the patch which can be found at the following location:
