duh.. you use the key in-game.. Airmech is Free-to-Play in Steam.

And in regards to AirMech, if you haven't played it give it a try. Heavy inspiration from Herzog Zwei, great dev community, frequent patches/updates. If the free to play grindy aspect is something you aren't interested in then the AirMech Prime takes care of that buy unlocking the airmechs/units (not cosmetics) with a one time purchase so most of the grind-work is gone.
