How do you report somebody who has ripped you off in a trade on steam? I traded keys and they were to message a steamcode. I tried Steam Support with no response.

  • What is Steam's policy on returning scammed items/gifts?

Steam will not return any items or gifts that you feel have been traded unfairly. There are no exceptions to this policy. All trades are final. If you were scammed, you may submit a report from the offending user's profile, however contacting Steam Support will not result in the return of any stolen items/gifts. This does not include fraudulently purchased games that you received and were removed from your account. Please see the below question for how we handle fraudulent gift trades.

You can report him to Steam rep and give him a negative rep on Steamgifts, Steam Support won't give you support for items not traded using trade window. On Steam rep they can just mark him as scammer if you show proof, and other ppl hopefully will be careful with that person, but nothing else you can do, next time trade with trustable ppl.

Because if they banned everyone who received X reports with "proof" that could be made with photoshop, than anyone who got a bum deal would get traders banned. Their policy is set out rather simply. If the items dont go in the trade window, we wont cover you in anyway.

I meant on steamgifts/ steamtrades support. I see a lot of people with negative rep and they are not banned.

Because there is not enough support members to handle all that stuff.

Just because someone falls for it, doesnt make the scammer any less of an asshole.
